Default Over Revs - Help

I am looking at buying a 2009 turbo. Porsche tech says car looks good but the over rev report shows the following:

Range 5: 837
Range 4: 2571
Range 3: 4574

Should I be scared?

Thx!

Probably.

Need more info.

Need total op hours.

And time stamps for last over revs.

* find new "Porsche tech"

In my mind there are three things to be concerned about wrt over revs:

1) Was the last range 4/5/6 over rev less than 100 op hours ago?
2) Does the data bother you?
3) Do you plan to sell the car soon?

If the answer to any of these questions is yes... find another car. If your answers were no, no, and no then I suggest you use the over rev data to negotiate the price down.

Agree with most of this except:

50 hours, not 100

And buy a power train warranty

Regarding the questions:

1) Need to find out how long ago the over revs were...
2) No it does not bother me per say, but I am concerned this is due to my ignorance
3) No I don't plan on selling soon

I will ask the seller about it.

The rationale here is that if there has been no CEL or other complication within 40 operating hours of an "incident", ie over rev, it is commonly held that no damage has occurred to motor. Having regurgitated that tidbit it must be said that folks have posted cleaner scans than the one you are looking at. The owner will most likely deny knowing anything about what happened. Check the time stamp on the report yourself.

Also possible the car has had a tune that included an increase in the rev limiter. I wouldn't touch that car with plenty of other choices available. Also didn't the '09 turbos have the .1 interiors?

That's possible and a good point, however, I would think that even with the ECU tweaked to exceed the factory rev limiter any over revs limited by the rev limiter would be in range 1 or 2. It would still take a money shift to produce 4 to 6 range over revs.
