I still worry about not having front plates though.

Here in NJ (and NY where I lived before), front plates are mandatory... And I have never had one... Not on my Cayman, the M3, my DD, or most certainly the Ferrari when i had it. And not on the 997. I simply will never comply with this law. Got 2 tickets for that in the Ferrari years ago but knock on wood have been OK so far. Front plates are an abomination on a sports car (and on the Ferrari it was contributing to overheating problems...).

I will take and pay that ticket all day long as long as it doesn't involve points. But that's just me...
(I do have it on my wife's DD though... she doesn't need the headache.)

At some point you will have to poke some holes - the key is to poke them in things behind the fascia or in inexpensive parts (like button blanks) rather than big expensive parts and outwardly visible things.
