Default 997.1 vs 997.2 differences?

School me Porsche bros. so in terms of exterior, you can get led fronts and rears but the rears are still a different design correct? Are the rear lights aftermarket if you want to go tithe led .2 ones because it seems the .2 ones are a different fit. Any way to get the .2 strip on the back of the .1?

Some have used 997.2 LED rear lights on the 997.1 but you'll need a new bumper since the shape of the light fixture is different. If you want to avoid the cost of a new bumper you can get aftermarket LED's - search and you'll find lots of info.

If by "strip" you mean what's on the 997.2 C4/C4S - it is just a reflector and can be fitted (with mods again) to a 997.1. Read here:

Awesome thank you. So if I go the oem led tails and bumper route. Would any further modifications be needed to fit the reflector strip or was it just the .2 bumped I needed?

You should only do this if you have a C4S or T4S, BTW. On any other model, it would be somewhat tacky and possibly considered poseur-ish.

The strip was not exclusive to the C4S - you can find it on the C4.

to the OP, if you want the 997.2 red strip; you will need to find the lower rear wing 997.2 c4/c4s decklid for your 997.1

as for the other changes in exterior, my album below covers most since i did the front and rear 997.2 conversion.

good luck!

The red strip is for AWD models /non Turbo. 996 cars had this, not sure why the 997.1 cars did away with the red strip.

If the op wanted to place turbo or C4/C4S badging on his 911 then you might have a case to support your opinion. A rear lightstrip does not make a 911 a "poseur-ish" vehicle.

Op - I understand what you are trying to do and as jhbrennan already pointed out, you will want to contact Suncoast parts and have them deliver to your nearest PCar dealer or body shop. This application will work for C2/C2S/C4/C4S models.

What's needed:
1. Order 997.2 Rear Deckled w/reflector (Link)
2. Order 997.2 Front Bumper/Rear Bumper w/LED's (Link)

Hope the above and previous provided information helps!

Expensive conversion, just shop for a 997.2 C4 if that's what you really want.

Agree! looks like the op may have decided on a 997.1 C4 variant. Since we are in the winter months, may be best just to wait and find a 997.2 C4/C4S.

lol...as long as its not prone to the dreaded IMS issues I think he's good to go!

EDIT: It appears you can just fit the 997.2 rear deckled spoiler and lightstrip to the 997.1 C4S that the op is looking at. (https://rennlist.com/forums/vehicle-...l#post10256004)
