I have a few cars to choose from (the non winter cars spend their time in a garage when the weather changes) and my winter kid hauler is a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 Summit, and I just bought my girlfriend a GL550 (she needs a third row). Last year I took her shopping for a new convertible for her birthday and she did test drives in a bunch of car including a Ferrari California. Her choice was the BMW 650 (I ended up buying a 650 coupe as well for myself). When I asked her why she picked a BMW over a Ferrari she said that she needed a car for way her life is not the way she would want it to be. That made me realize two things, one was she was a lot smarter than I am, the second one was she was way more grown up than I'll ever be.

I have a 997 see below, and recently purchased a 09 Cayenne GTS, I couldn't be happier!! It offers great utility, and is still very much a drivers car. You would not be disappointed.

Smart man and good for you for doing what made sense for you instead of listening to people who don't know your situation.

That 4runner looks awesome and I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

What about 80% of the people who read this thread missed is that you didn't enjoy your 997 as much as you should...and thats ok.

If you loved the 991, get a 991. If you get a 997.2 in the future, you will regret it.

Nevertheless, enjoy your truck and come back to a 911 when you're ready.

Maybe you should join a toyota forum instead. Last I checked this was a place for Porsche enthusiasts. Lifers.... Get it?

Wow.

So the man makes the right decision for himself and his family, and you call it disgusting.

He seems to be pretty enthusiastic about the marque if you cared to read any of his posts. Perhaps now is not the right time for him to own the car, and maybe what he had wasn't the right 911 for him.

Nevertheless, your posts are revolting. And you're a sponsor? jesus

yeah not really.....your on your own with that comment. OP Look forward to seeing you back in the seat of a P car any sports car for that matter..... some (most) of us welcome all rides.

Congrats on your 4Runner... Best truck I ever owned was 4runner, I had an 88 back in the day with the removable rear roof. 22re motor with 240K miles on it when I sold it and was running like a top!

You will be back....made the right choice in setting prioriries...for your life! (smart move)

Now order a roof rack backet, brush guard and some IPF lamps Fun trucks to mod a bit....

Amazing to see so much 4Runner love on this forum. I owned a 2003 and it was by far the worst car I have ever owned in my life. The ownership experience was so bad I would never consider buying a Toyota again in my life unless I had absolutely no other choice.

I learned that two popular statements about Toyotas are essentially lies: reliability and resale value.

My 4Runner had a lot of problems and the inept mechanics that 4 Toyota dealers in the NY metro area that I went to could not fix it. They barely could reset the oil change indicator (sometimes they didn't). Toyota's answer to poorly trained and low paid mechanics? Roving specialist teams. Those specialist teams ended up farming my car out to another team. 3-4 weeks out of commission on a 1 year old truck with no loaner car, not even an offer of a ride to the train station (taxi only or I can pay $50/day for a Corrolla). Keep in mind this was a $40k truck in 2003!!!! Net result? The car was never fixed properly.

Resale? Listing it in a few different sales channels yielded joke offers. My eventual trade-in was $5k higher than anything I was offered on the open market!

Oh, and for safety... even though my truck had 4 wheel disc brakes, as soon as it had a minimal load in it I felt like it could barely stop. It was scarey to drive!

Anyway, not trying to rain on the OPs parade. I think he made a great decision to get out of a car that doesn't fit his needs and come back to something else when the time is right. I wish him luck with the new truck! They do look nice. I just wish I could have enjoyed my experience with mine more. I guess there are a few lemons everywhere.
