Winter Storage and Jack Stands

Winter Storage and Jack Stands
Hello everyone &
I once saw a picture of a winter stored 911 on, what I thought was, air operated bottle jacks (if there is such a thing). Given the cars proximity to the ground and very small or limited lift points, what are you using to keep your car up off the ground for winter storage?
thanks,
John

If you keep tire pressure extra high it's usually no issue - however it is actually quite convenient to have it lifted for checkup and maintenance.
I bought 4 small jack stands. Put one under each lift point. Will anyhow change oil and filter plus transmission oil and check rotors and break pad wear as well as cleaning callipers
Edit: this is the one I use. 2 tonnes each and I keep them in lowest position or even without the adjustable piece

With Jackpoint stands, you jack the car up and the Jackpoint brand jackstand can be placed under the jackpoint where the jack is currently holding the car.
It makes getting the car onto four jackstands a no brainer. Jack each point up, slide in a Jackpoint stand, repeat 3x more.
Other than that, I did visit Pelican Parts, where they have a 'how to' on jacking up the 997 and using a traditional floor jack and traditional jackstands to support the vehicle, which might include using a jack under a suspension point to support the vehicle weight so that you can use a traditional jackstand under the jackpoints.
Jackpoint brand jackstands eliminate all the 'special' procedures.

From what I've read, it is not a good idea to leave the car in the air for long periods of time, due to the suspension having no load/weight on it. Don't have any more detail than that, keen to know if there's truth to it.

I also heard this is not a good idea...
Although I cannot attest to the underlying technical details, one of the most knowledgeable Porsche aficionados I know (he's in deep; real deep) personally advised me to never store the car on jack stands with weight off the suspension. Claims it will ruin the suspension.

X2 I know this was discussed before but forget where. I would leave the car on the ground, leaving the suspension "loaded"

Increases the tire pressure.
Change the oil.
Clean the car.
car cover.
battery tender.
Gas stabilizer.
dry storage.
Four months storage, I would not keep it raised.
100 years, maybe.
or
Slap some winter tires on it and drift through the snow like a BOSS with a Bose.

I have heard that storing a car on jackstands can be tough on some rubber suspension bushings because it puts additional stress on the rubber in this unloaded position. I am not sure if this is the case with the 997, but it wouldn't surprise me a bit.

This is what i have done for 14 years and never had a problem. Works like a charm.

Go to any carpet store and ask if they have any used, no longer needed carpet sample squares. Get 8 of them, and park the car sitting atop 2 at every wheel. I've used this for years, together with 50 psi inflation and never had any flat spot issues. You can get the squares for anywhere for free to a few dollars each.

I was told that the reason you don't store the car on jackstands with the wheels hanging down is that it exposes parts of the shock rods that are normally inside the shock seals to corrosion. This opens up the possibility of the corroded shock rods to leaking. Just my $.02.
