Lifting this thread.

Does this work for the C2S as well? What did you do to the vacuum hose that connects to the Helmholtz resonator? Just plug it? Or remove it and plug the solenoid?

I have ordered the silicone hose and cap for the air box from design911 but I think it's primarily made for the "non-S" 997 carrera so I would really appreciate if there is someone with a C2S that has done this and who can comment.

The silicon hose and resonator cap do work on 997.1 c2s. I wouldn't bother though. I've switch back and forth a few times and there's no noticeable difference except the silicone is slightly harder to install than the corrugated stock tube.

In my wife's car I had initially installed a K&N, but returned it within a couple days and bought the Evoms which has been on for a few years now. Car also ran better with the Evoms than the K&N. You can find these used in the Rennlist Marketplace from time to time for about $300-$350. Had to change it to go with the TT rear decklid and spoiler she wanted to make space for the spoiler hydraulic rams.
Sorry for the hijack - Pete am I right in understanding that the K&N intake will not clear the hydraulic rams on the TT decklid?

I did the resonator block with the oil cap. I don't think the hose adds anything. The resonator block adds some nice sound esp on start ups but the guy who said it improved his throttle response is on drugs and needs a new butt dyno. It does squat for throttle response

Did mine for $35. $30 for the silicone hose, $5 for the rubber pipe plug from Ace Hardware.

There is no performance increase at all...maybe in your mind and only if you've been properly "lubed".

Adds a little sound....perhaps.

Bought a TopSpeed hose on eBay for like $25 plus a couple bucks for a block off cap from somewhere else. Plugs unlimited or something like that. Someone on here recommended it in an old thread about this and its worked great for years now. It doesn't make the car scream but it did make it a little louder at lower rpms, which the 997 needs. The damn car is way too quiet stock.

OK - parts arrived and took less than 10 minutes to assemble.

I have not removed the Helmholtz resonator. I just plugged the hole.

Sound with top up is crispier in all rev ranges. Not huge difference but noticeable when accelerating. No difference in idle or cruising at steady throttle. I don't expect and don't feel any horsepower gain on top end but I strangely feel more torque and throttle response from low revs. It's really a noticeable difference.

High up in the revs there is this pronounced intake resonance sound but I thought it would be even more pronounced. It's mainly between 4000-6000 rpm in my case. I will check if the plug is tight so there are no leaks.

I have Gundo hack since before so this is what I was missing.

Attached pictures of the parts and a YouTube video of the result after the installation. Car had Gundo hack since before.

The improved tq and throttle response are in your head unfortunately
