Default Low-end Torque on 997.1...

As much as I think my car has enough power (997.1 C4S), it does lack in low-end torque, specially off slow speed corners when you wanna quickly get back on power (without downshift).

Is there a way to increase torque without too much mods? Like headers, exhaust, tune, etc...

Ive added mufflers, air filter, tune, IDP plenum, GT3 TB and have more power and a good kick at 5 k rpm. Next up is high flow cats from FVD.

Need it below that, like 3-4K RPM.

Any mods that you do ie headers, intake, throttle body etc etc will actually decrease your low end but you will make it up in the top end.

Which we have enough power, or at least for me it's sufficient.

If you're looking for power, the oversquare, DOHC, relatively small displacement engine called the Flat 6 would like to have a word with you (and it would like to smack you in the head).

"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING LOOKING FOR POWER DOWN AT 3K RPMs! That's like ROCK BOTTOM cruising speed! Me and all my foot-lbs of torque and me closest homies, who I call HORSEPOWER, are up here, especially north of 4500 RPMs, BOY! Screw your head on right! REV ME! Work me between 4500 and 7000 RPM. KEEP ME ON THE CAM! SMAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!!!!"

Your Friend,

Flat 6

precisely, and they are terrific.

Its great to not need to downshift twice to make a quick pass.

I'll just stick to leaving it in 6th and enjoying the wave of torque.

enjoy rowing...time and a place for that if you ask me.

Ok, let me explain this a bit as you guys are just making silly comment.

On most racetracks, you are mostly in 3rd gear, some corners you can do down to 2nd and back up to 3rd, but sometimes it's not beneficial, hence staying in 3rd and having more Torque getting out of corners is a great benefit if one has it.

recently coming from an e92 M3, I can say my 997.1 C2 feels like it has PLENTY of torque down low

Well, now who is going to argue that more torque is bad??

Follow the thread: A naturally aspirated Porsche Flat 6 is not a torque monster, in total output or in the torque curve, especially if you're familiar with stroker engines, V8's, etc.

I wouldn't want a turbo, and part of the appeal is keeping the Flat 6 'on the cam'.

Yes, Yes, Yes.... we all understand the turbo torque, the way it's delivered, the race track efficiency of pulling forever in one gear versus rowing.
