Default Just picked up a 2011 GTS

Hi all!

Just this past Saturday I flew down to Atlanta to pick up a new to me 2011 GTS, I then proceeded to drive it back home to NJ. I really enjoyed the trip back home, particularly the dual personality of the GTS. On one hand it is a sedate GT coupe that allows you to cruise with little effort and on the other hand just a few button presses away, you have a really interesting back road burner that awakens the dark side in you. I have been away from P-cars for close to 10 years and regret that lapse now that I have one to remember what I missed. My last one was a 996 Carrera which was a lot of fun as well. Regardless, I cannot wait to get this thing on a track or an Autox course to thoroughly enjoy it.

I am looking to learn as much as possible about this car here, as this platform is new to me and I know very little of it. Just today I started getting it ready for an HPDE in September with RTR PCA, stopping by Stable Energies and picking up some goodies for it such as a track mat, some trailer tie downs, tow hook, and a fire extinguisher and a mount for it. Now I have to read up and see what brake pads and wheel/tire combo to get for it. The pads on it are good for street but are at about 50% and I know that won't cut it. I really need a " GTS for dummies" thread and I apologize in advance for the redundant questions that will come from me, such is the life of a forum newb.

That being said, any info that comes my way will be appreciated. I have been looking at threads from folks who track their GTS' and have picked up some good info from them. I am currently looking for some 18" centerlock wheels and tires so as not to destroy the factory 19's. If anyone has any leads on vendors please let me know, I have been on Tirerack's site and they only show 1 option on the 18's. I can also use some help trying to identify the factory wheel specs as I cannot find anything specific to the GTS. It seems that there are a couple of different centerlock specs across the model lines and I do not want to make a mistake on offset particularly since there is no way to adjust it with spacers.

The new ride:

My other ride - 2012 Evo track toy - never sees the street anymore can you tell I am a P-car fanboy?

I have a '11 GTS with aerokit… Start with these spec's as I think they are correct….. Anyone correct if I'm wrong! Just did Laguna Seca for fun, great all around car! Some want to convert from center lock to five lug for track use but it is rather expensive as four rotors have to be changed out on GTS in addition to the usual carriers etc.

Many thanks Rick-A-Shay! I was hoping not to have to pull the wheels for the specs!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

I forgot that my car is sitting out in the garage! The info is stamped on the outside edge of the hub behind the spokes where the wheel is attached to the rotor/carrier. Very easy to see with a flashlight……..

Absolutely beautiful car!

Maybe I missed it, but is it a manual or PDK?

Post some interior shots if you have a chance.

Default Just picked up a 2011 GTS

User mdrums tracked his former GTS and would be a good knowledge source for that. I've taken apart the suspension already and can help with stock setup and suggested aftermarket parts. I have five lugs so wheels are not a major concern for me. I can suggest brake parts and setup too. Just PM me.

Congrats and welcome to the GTS club!

Again, thank you for the kind words. -

@nwGTS - funny you mention Mdrums, I contacted him prior to me even picking up the car to pick his brains about a set of wheels and tires that he had been selling. Unfortunately he had sold them already, they were a really good deal.

The car is a PDK with the Sport Chrono, Bose, Navi, Adaptive Sport Seats and the Alcantara interior. The car is in really clean shape, I will get some more pictures as soon as I have a chance. It will be at the dealer tomorrow for a spare key as it came with only one and a reflash of the PCM. The PCM goes haywire once I pair it via bluetooth to my iPhone.
