Default I assume I have a replacement engine?

Car is a 2005 Carrera S with a 10/2004 build date. Too a look at the motor number and it is M97/01SAT68675023.
From researching here, it appears the last 5 digits should be a low number for an early car?
It is actually a Launch car, although not the special edition in black with all the extras

The "AT" in your engine number indicates that it is a replacement motor.

AT stands for "Austausch" which is German and means replacement.
