Replacement windshield So CA

Replacement windshield So CA
HI, I live at the beach (Newport / Huntington border).
I noticed some small window pits on the new to me 997.
Really only noticeable heading into the sunset, still bothers me though.
Any recommendations on someone installing a replacement windshield?
I would rather they come to the house.
However,I am willing to take it somewhere for the installation.
Thanks in advanced.

We use Brothers Wholesale Glass in Los Angeles. 323-249-5167 They do not sell OEM glass but the fitment will be perfect and you will love the price. Not sure if they will drive to OC but may be worth a drive to LA to have it installed. I am sure the P dealer would want a pretty penny for OEM glass. It is not recommended to drive the car for a few hours after the install so the windshield can seal properly.

All windshields, sooner or later, will have micro spots - unless the car is not driven. If you only see those against the sun, I would not bother to change. Windshield change is often critical, especially on these cars. I would only do it at a dealer.

Many P dealers use aftermarket companies to do their glass installs. German OE glass is softer than American glass so I would assume the aftermarket glass would hold up better. We had a 996 come in a few years ago that had OE glass and was pitted all over. Sun would hit the glass and lower visibility. We changed it and customer was very happy with the aftermarket glass and has not had any pitting since.

Re glass... what is your experience with aftermarket glass? What are the engraved inscription on that?

I would just use safelite, why not?
Dealers rarely install thier own glass...
Also you can get aftermarket glass from the supplier for OEM glass ( so yeah its the same thing without the porsche logo) and much cheaper!

So, I used Safelite and am very happy.
They came to my home, set up, and did the entire job in about 80 minutes.
Great guy, very knowledgeable. He knew all the sensors, what to remove and what to disconnect.
After installation, he showed me everything to work as it should.
Total bill, less than $400.00.
I was going to use Brothers Glass out of LA.
When I first called them they said "no problem" coming down here.
The second time I called, they said "they didn't service down here".
Just wanted to let you guys know, they did a good job.
