Default PCA GGR DE Thunderhill Aug 15-16

Track enthusiasts,

PCA GGR is holding a DE at Thunderhill Raceway Aug 15-16. The weekend promises sunny skies, warm weather and a fast track. To make it even more exciting, we'll be running the 3 mile track in the clockwise direction, so come on out and join us.

Any questions, drop me a line at ggrttchair@gmail.com.

At the behest of my colleagues, I will be there! This will be my first time on the track.

Tim, how do you evaluate the risk of hitting the wall at turn 1?

Hmm, the same way I evaluate the risk of hitting objects at any race track, I suppose. It's possible if you make a mistake or something breaks on the car, but highly unlikely. In my three years as track chair I can only remember one incident with a car hitting a wall. It's the responsibility of our nationally-certified DE instructors to coach newcomers how not to do that.

It's a two day run so hopefully RListers from afar will think about making the trek to support this event. Tim and PCA GGR runs great events, safe, educational, professional, and most of all. fun!

I'd be there but I am on vacation with family that week!

That's a good price! I'll look into it and see if I can get those dates to pencil.
Also location etc..etc

And after looking, ten hour drive... I think iif I'm going to plan a big road trip I want to drive Laguna seca. I'm 12 miles away from Portland raceway. Good deal though!

If you're going to lose sleep at night, get track insurance through ontrackinsurance dot com (no affiliation) or Lockton. It'll cost you a few hundred bucks.

That being said, you'll be fine. T-Hill is a great beginner track. I started there with GGR and have been to several events there with them and Turn 1 isn't nearly as scary as Turn 3 :-)

Sadly, I can't be there due to family plans out of town.

Yep, got Lockton for the event. I've heard that THill 3 mile (CCW) is great for beginners; since we're running CW this time, I was curious because it's an uncommon THill configuration.

If you want to be concerned about hitting walls, spend a day at Sonoma I watched two cars hit walls in separate incidents but in the same session!

Thill is awesome and i wish i could be there but will be away on family obligations

Due to input we've received from our drivers, we've decided to run the normal counter clockwise direction for this event. There are still slots left, so come on out and join us! pca-ggr.MotorsportReg.com

Great weekend at Thunderhill, everyone. A bit warm, but tons of fun with some great people. We're back up there Sept 5-6, when it should be cooler.
