My understanding of the 997.2 is there are 2 launch configurations. First one being the C4S in Grey as posted above loaded including GT2 seats. Second one being the British Racing Green C2S with PDK and beige interior. Most i've seen are PDK - not sure if 6 speed was configured.
The only launch edition for the 997.1 i'm aware of is the black on black C2S loaded with almost every option including big yellows. First i've seen a grey one too...

I find the concept of a launch edition to be interesting.... but a collectible and worthy of a higher resale price? I dunno about that.
These are version 1.0.... doesn't sound appealing to me. I have an early build 2009 C2S 997.2.... I am not comfortable with this as I had two engines blow of the earlier design.... 1.0s make me a bit uncomfortable but the price I got was just too fantastic to pass up.
Someone posted that they owned two 997.2, one was a 2009 and the other a few years later and he noted the '09 engine ticked and made noises while his newer one was quiet. My '09 makes some odd noises...... hmm....... 1.0? not an appealing thing. Porsche was famous for "incremental improvements" that were touted to be a good thing..... I always read that differently ... I saw that as a company too small to knock out the bugs from the start.
(Sorry, just an old guy being cranky.)

I love it man, i've put over 80,000 miles on the car it's fantastic. Trying to figure out now if it would be more cost effective to keep it for many more years or to trade for a lower mileage 997 down the road. Tough call because I don't ever want to sell it.

As for warranty i'm unaware as i'm the 2nd owner (purchased in 2009). It's been solid a part from AOS having to be replaced.
Is there a warranty I could purchase for the next 3 - 5 years? That might be the ticket...

My reasoning was 1) I like the styling, feel and sound of the 997.1 better than the .2 or 991. 2)the additional depreciation on a newer car would equal or exceed the cost of what I needed done to mine, so it really made no difference moneywise.

"Do launch cars have a longer warrantee?"
I have a 2009 C2s PRG etc. launch edition and yes it had a 6 year warranty from the factory as part of the launch package. As part of the purchase price I extended it another 2 years until November of this year.

Here's my launch edition. Bought her last year with 66k miles. I have the original window sticker and sales receipts and it appears that my car was the launch edition at Beverly Hills Porsche
