Default how about this 997 S

Hi guys, what do you think about this 997 S

2006 997 S
58k miles
clean carfax
exotic non-porsche dealer
passed PPI by reputable porsche indy mechanic
no accidents, no re-paint
three issues, needs new tires (I know it's gonna hurt) 60k miles service around the corner and ac buttons are faded, will need to touch up

dealer selling for 37k
willing to accept 34,500

thoughts?

Thank you

How many owners? Are maintenance records available? Origin in South, Midwest, Northeast, Southwest? Looks very nice and that's a good price.

two owners, started in Florida then Texas
service I would have to say that only what the carfax tells us. I am buying from a distance so I need to ask maybe they are in the glove box, indy mechanic says that it looks like it has been well taken care of
regardless I am looking at least a grand for the next service plus new tires, I'm guessing that is why he was willing to come down on it, after he saw the PPI report

Looks like the front bumper has been redone... or needs to be redone. As usual Tip means curb rash. I'd suggest spending more to find a nicer, local car.

Sport Chrono is nice. Seems like a decent deal to me.

without going too deep, why does the triptonic have such a bad rep?

I would recruit someone to take a look at in person and give you a condition report and pics of any flaws in the paint, interior, rims, etc.

From what I can tell, you have done all of the right things i.e. Car fax, PPI researched prices for maintenance etc. now the choice is up to you. Is it the car you want/desire? Is the color combination the one you want? And the list goes on. They are great cars and heads turn as you drive by. Good luck.

having such a great time that he tried to get his 996 back

How much is my mistake going to cost me? All things in, about $9,000. On the other hand I'll be saving $17,000 so I'm still ahead $8,000. More or less. But the truth is that I'm out $9,000 and I won't bother itemizing it.

Oh yes, and I prefer the stock 996 suspension to the sport and normal settings on the 997. And I prefer the way the 996 took a set in some turns.

What more can I say. I made a decision that it turns out I regret making. And I'll have to pay the price.
