Footwell outlet is accessories only protected by a 7.5 amp fuse. Wiring gauge is generally matched to fuse size and I would not recommend putting a larger fuse in. The cigarette lighter needs more power, should have larger gauge wiring, and a 15 amp fuse. This is where I would plug the compressor in.

Wayne... Thanks for the info. Sounds like cigarette lighter socket is the better option for the compressor.

Right...but don't think it's an option. Owner's manual specifically says use cigarette lighter. If you review posts about this issue for the last 7 years you'll see many instances of blown fuses when socket other than cigarette lighter socket was used. Hope there are no more flats in your future.

"Option" seemed a bit more diplomatic, but what you are saying is correct. Thanks ... Better with the clarification!
