Interest in Pre/Post Dyno (IDP Plenum and Evoms intake)
For the record - I don't "really" care but I hate the fact that when I look for information only half the story is told...
That being said I have an IDP plenum (non competition) and Evoms intake coming for my 2007 997.1 base Carrera. Car has 20k miles and no mods except for the Fister exhaust (which really doesn't count).
Seems to me the "butt dyno" is the most popular way to judge performance gains - but is clearly subjective.
I have 2 performance shops local to me that work on P-cars that have Dyno's so that's not an issue...
Are there specific things that I should ask them to do when testing?

That would be fine with me - however, I think the vast majority of people are sceptical about the claims provided by vendors and manufacturers. PLEASE - don't take that offensively (certainly nothing against you all). For instance - IDP claims what...20hp just by adding the plenum? They post the dyno for all to see - but I see more people question the claim than accept it.

I used to have the Fabspeed single intake on my 07 4S. At first the sound was way cool, but that's all I got. Low end torque suffered and only real gain can be felt at high end RPM where more cool air is fed into intake. At slower speeds it's not going to improve anything.
Dyno a CIA and cold air is being fed into the car because it's not moving. Real world use with ambient air taken into account you won't see a gain.
Get the X-51 dual intake with a sealed box and you will see low end gains. I went back to stock because an intake that's exposed to the best of the engine will not provide that cool air needed for increase HP. More air flow is good for HP too. The IDP should help in that department of increased air flow.
It's always subjective. Just my .02

Assuming very similar weather conditions (temp and humidity), you should have three runs pre-mods, three runs post-mods. Their usual procedure for dyno runs. You should not use one shop for one set, and the other for the other set
Be aware that different dynos will give you different results. The runs I made on a DynaJet (maybe DynaPak, I forget) before and after an FVD-Brombacher ECU flash confirmed Porsche's 380 hp for my ex-6GT3, and 400 hp after. A few folks claimed Mustang dyno showed 400+ hp stock for that model. Doesn't matter. Your're interested in what the mods do for your car, from your baseline.

I did the plenum, evoms intake and headers but the car clearly reached another level after I added the FVD tune. So any bolt-on mods you do, consider topping it off with a good ecu flash. Thanks

It's a package deal when moving these cars. Just an intake change will not gain you anything. If you up the air intake you have to up the fuel delivery (a tune) and you have to have an efficient exhaust...headers, free flow muffler to exit the spent gasses.

Like I said - I don't particularly care - however, I have read countless threads here about bolt on's where members question the poster, crucify the manufacturer, and still have no answers.
Since I have the stuff available to me to do some testing - just wondering if anyone actually cares - or if I should just go ahead, bolt this stuff on and go about my business. If there is an interest - I will. If not - I won't. Trying to pay it forward to the community that's helped me.
Would be nice to have before this weekend at Sebring - but I will settle for the middle pedal upgrades instead of the right side pedal. (new pads, fluid.... Performance Friction and Motul 660).

I can't speak for you but if I had the means and time to play around and do a dyno on on these parts, I would.
If nobody else is interested I would at least do it for my own interest because like you said, every one disputes and crucifies manufacturers yet nobody helps prove or disprove.

And I did go spend 2 hrs at a shop trying to dyno the car, and it was a supposed 4 wheel drive dyno. But it wouldnt run on the dyno. I later found out they have to be mechanically coupled front and rear dynos, like Mustang, but it was not
