997 Targa in the winter? Is it possible?
I am looking to buy a 997 4S. Either in Coupe or Targa form. The car will be a daily driver and may see some miles in snowy winter.
I can imagine a coupe would be fine to drive around, but what worries me with the Targa is obvious... the glass roof and leaking.
Has anyone been brave enough to do this or should I go with the coupe?

Targa's don't work in the winter. The glass will not only leak, but it may shatter!!
In all seriousness, you'll be fine with a Targa or Cab. Get what you like. The only thing to worry about is ground clearance when running these cars in the winter. If you are in an urban area with plows you'll be fine.

My wife drove our 997.1 C4 Cab all winter for the last couple of years. We have a Porsche hard top and a set of Pirelli snow tires
BTW that is real winter (western Canada)

I have an introductory Targa 4 from 07, really November 06. I drive it as a daily driver summer and winter in the Northeast. I did replace the summer tires for all seasons. Fabulous daily driver, not appropriate for heavy snow

I drive my C2 in the winter with no issues but with a set of 'best that money can buy' winter tires. You just have to drive carefully and not ignore the weather impact.

you don't know New Mexico winters! We're not Arizona! I live at 6500ft elevation...biggest snow storm was 27". Although this year our biggest storm was 6"! I just got my Targa towards the end of winter, but that little storm was no big deal for my 4s!

Porsche, a German company, is quite experienced at climate testing cars from the Sahara Desert to Northern Finland. Chances are quite good that you will never run your car into conditions worse than they used to design your future car.
