I looked for months..not from a porsche dealer and not Porsche CPO. No way without an accident...

However 65k can get a low mileage under 30k 997.2 Carrera 4s (porsche CPO) with all the goodies you could want and that is a lot better than a Cayman in my biased opinion of course

I might know a thing or to about that

Here are some recent sales..

Original Owner, No accident 2011 GTS with PDK/aerokit/alcantara sold for 67k (45 days ago). 20,000 miles, Atlanta, Georgia. Private Party Sale.

3 weeks ago a 2012 GTS PDK (No aerokit) sold for 65k - No accidents but it did lack good service records, 28,000 miles. Jacksonville, Florida. Private Party Sale.

2 weeks ago in NC a 2012 GTS with No acccidents, warranty, one owner and PDK/alcantara sold for 74k, 9,000 miles, Carrington, NC. Dealer.

Black Edition... IMO, not worth anywhere near what they are charging for it, especially since they have the fugly Turbo wheels, which are the worst looking wheels in the current line-up. I am so tired of Porsche continually trying to shove "black everything" down our throats.

If those prices are true (no links provided) then it shows that Porsche 911s have really crappy resale value.

Man, gota911, that seems overly harsh. It's disappointing to read the negativity about the Black Edition. So what if Porsche wanted to move some parts, seems like a reasonable thing to do when you have surplus. Who knows, 25 years from now maybe the BEs will be the most coveted 997 as the last ones to roll off the line.

Its a 997.2 base that's nicely optioned and its a bit different labeling. The prices reflect the late model year of 2012, and most have low miles and are still on factory warranties.

It is still a proper 911 and drives like one. BE owners hold your head high and enjoy your 911s!

These sales are very real, in fact I nearly purchased the GTS in NC (9,000 mile) - but Jack Preston (member here) bought it site unseen after PPI and had it transported to NY before I was able to fly up to NC and look at it myself.

Also yes Porsches CAN have poor resale - generally the only cars that really hold value are extremely limited production vehicles that are also very entertaining to drive. GT3 is the perfect example.

Just look at my 911. It's a fully optioned 997S with PCCB, Full Leather, Alcantara, Adaptive seats, PSE etc. 10,038 miles. No accidents/like new condition. MSRP was over 100k and I paid 51k (6 years ago).

The first 3 years they tank.

Fortunately, I have no interest in selling mine and had planned to keep it for an extended period of time when deciding to buy it. I also got a great deal when purchasing a new leftover on the dealer's showroom floor. But, as in the case with the GTS, I also think the prices will firm and do much better than an S due to the fact there were considerably fewer produced and the car noticeably performs better.

What do you mean continually? The black editions only first appeared on the 997.2 and I think boxsters and caymans. Those were the first black editions.

I'd be dissapointed if the GTS didn't hold value stronger than a Carrera S. And regardless of whether you paid 70k or 90k you're still driving a 125k 911 that is timeless. Keep it for life.

Does anyone have any data on production numbers?

Personally I love black cars and I think the 911 looks especially good in solid black. Yeah its a pain to keep clean etc, but in my opinion it is a color that wears really well over time. I didn't get a Black Edition, but my triple black hits the spot for me. There's a reason Porsche sells so many black 911s.

Porsche's recent trend is to push black bits, either in the form of parts, or with the black edition, whole cars.

The 991 GTS variants are loaded with black bits. Black anodized interior trim strips instead of silver, black "BB-Q grill" on the engine deck lid, black wheels, black rear badges, black strip between the rear lights, etc. Fortunately you can select options to eliminate most, but not all, of the black crap on the GTS.
