Default Metal in Oil Filter 05 997 C2

My 05 C2 with 40k, has the LN upgrade (done at 38k) because the RMS was weeping and I found sizeable metal flakes in the filter cartridge. I have the mag drain plug and when I changed the oil after 1500 miles I noticed some very very tiny metal particles. The drain plug had nothing on it (just some sludge). The car runs flawlessly. Is any metal in the filter somewhat normal?

I start it every other week in the winter 4 months without extended driving to keep the lifters full of oil and would imagine that cold starts would produce some metal. Any insight is greatly appreciated.

I get a few very small metal flakes in my 997.2, the largest the size of a fleck of ground black pepper. The best suggestion I have to get more help here is the cut out the paper and unroll it for a better examiniation of what is down in the pleats. Posting a photo with a size reference like a dime will be helpful since it is hard to to know what you think is sizable.

Most likely what you are seeing is completely normal.

Here is a thread I posted last October asking pretty much the same question. It includes a photo that you can use for comparison as well as a few helpful responses: https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...is-normal.html

Thanks man. My filter looks just like yours, some of the particles even smaller. I really appreciate you responding. I think since the IMS is new it is normal. I'm terrified of something happening to this motor and its taking away from the enjoyment.

May unsubscribe from my own post, because I feel reassured. Thanks again!

I have 57000 miles on my 05, and have changed the oil every 3000 miles, and have the original IMS bearing. Never have I seen any metal flakes in my filter when I cut it up and check it each change. I'd be concerned.
