I am surprised you still have the 997. I thought it would have been sold by now, as there seemed to be lots of interest in the other thread. Did you change your mind, or is it still up for sale?

I think you would miss that car if you sold it. It looks pretty incredible.
This thread really hits home. I'm torn between keeping a modern car vs. obtaining a classic appreciating air-cooled. Parting with a low maintenance head turning 997 is proving to be pretty difficult. Lucky for me, my wife is jumping into the classic route so I can assess which direction is better for me/us. Good luck to the OP on this one!

It's a tough decision to be sure (I couldn't sleep the night before I decided to put the car on the market) but in the end we are all lucky to be driving these excellent machines from all eras.

I don't want to start a long chain about pricing but I chose to start where I did because last Summer I changed my insurance with Chubb to an agreed replacement value of $40k and after watching the market I think that number might be too low. There just aren't many 964 C2 5-speed Coupes changing hands. Porsche didn't make many to start, they also released their first mass market all wheel drive system with the 964 and were pushing those hard at the time. They also added tiptronic automatics. Also I think a lot of them were turned into race cars when they were very very cheap and now we are left with a very small inventory of 964 C2 coupes. In the end the market will tell me the right price.

Mike9186 you are showing cool intelligence and excellent common sense. You will enjoy the modern car and you will always have the memories of the 964. I was originally looking at 993s and 964s but when I compared cost and condition and performance it was hard to say yes to them. At the same time the 996s were so insanely under-priced I became a drunken sailor on an island full of hookers.
In a moment of passion it is easy to forget that hookers can be very demanding. But so far so good.
Best wishes

Yes please take pictures of the two together!

Really you only sell cars you like.
The cars you don't like, also don't sell, thus... you're stuck with them.
Congrats on the new purchase.
