Default Bye to the 02 996 C4S, hello to the 07 997 C2S

Here they are, sad to see the 996 go. The 996 4S handled great, especially with the 18 inch rubber, suspension was a little more compliant where the 997 is stiffer even in the normal PASM setting. The 19" and the crappy tires on her don't help the 997, but she does have some scoot-scoot !

The interior and feel of the leather (though the 996 had full leather) is much better and more modern feeling with a feel of quality. The traditional look of the headlamps really moves me. The shifter feel (though I had the 997 stock shifter in the 996) is so much better, not sure if I have the SSK in the 997 but it seems pretty short and direct. Feels like I am pushing the cogs together with my hands, lots of feedback and confidence.

The sport exhaust is awesome, though I am torn between the 996 throaty PSE (been in a 996 with PSE, didn't have it on mine) and the howl of the 997 PSE.

First mod complete... ha! Installed a switch to bypass the DME controls of the PSE!

Two sexy cars. Look at the condition of that 996. It looks brand new! Congrats on the upgrade.

I would have to say it did look brand new with 39,000 miles on it when sold. The 07 has a warranty, but admittedly it was a driver's car and driven through its life where the 996 was a garage queen.

Like others have said, this is not an "either/or", just two great cars that you've been able to own. 997S is a pretty good next step after the C4S. Enjoy --

Congrats. I went from a 996 to a 997 as well. I think it's a world of difference. You'll really enjoy it. I drive the 997 more than I did the 996 even though I have a daily driver. The 997, in my opinion, is way more comfortable, except for the tire noise which I find slightly hire in the 997. Everything else is improved. Oh, I have a 997.2 and miss the more throaty exhaust of my 996 which was still present on a 997.1. Enjoy!!

I totally agree about the tire noise on the 997, I think it is my tires though, they are not PSS. The 996 sport exhaust is an awesome tune.
