thanks halo...now, the real Q is do i really need this for the $ i'd have to spend don't know that i would reap that much of a benefit that i would even notice...i take a leisurely lap or 2 around the nordschleife when i find the time, never really push the car, so this might be wasted on me...thoughts?

If you aren't really pushing your car, I dont think youll notice it that much. At the very least, you could get a much better bang-for-your-buck for a street car that sees occasional track use.
Have you done lowering springs or coilovers? Bilstien makes PASM compatible coilovers.
Do you have PASM? If so, TPC has an aftermarket PASM controller that looks really cool, and would likely make a much bigger difference on the track. It gets rid of the dive on braking, and the floaty feel in the front of 997.1 cars, apparently. On the 997.1 it also adds another axis to the accelerator.
You could also do additional cooling with a third rad. But if you arent having issues with over heating now, then it might not make any difference.
Sway bars, tires, brakes, seats, cage... lots of places to spend your money to improve track performance before doing an LSD, I would guess.
But, Im not a track expert at all, so maybe do a search to see how the guys are setting up their cars.
Good Luck!

Here is more info on the TPC DSC...
https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...ntrol-dsc.html
That would be a quick and easy mod, and you could always sell it off for a good price if you didnt like it.

Here's another review of a GT3 owner who seems very happy adding the TPC DSC
https://rennlist.com/forums/997-gt2-...to-try-it.html
I'd like to add one myself, combined with a set of lowering springs.

From what I have read, all 997.2 4 wheel drive cars, 3.6 or 3.8 come with standard mechanical locking differential. Optional on cars with19" wheels.
