Agreed. I looked thoroughly at that car in person, and inspected the full documented history. At the asking price, it was a very good deal, mainly because of the colour and recent rebuilt engine. However, there was some minor body damage on the car that kept it from being a mint example. Still, a fine car that I would have purchased myself if I didnt come across my C4s.

Check out this one in Nova Scotia... A loaded Launch edition C2s, with lower mileage and ceramic brakes asking $31k USD ($39k CAD). Private sale, and doesnt say anything about accidents, or lack thereof

Like I said, there are all kinds of deals up here at the moment. My favorite is an 09 C4s that was just out of my price range, unfortunately. My advice is to get them now, because the deals arent going to last forever.

The mileage destroys resale value more than anything else besides major accidents. Most buyers don't want "high mileage" sportscars, and I think there is a myth that 50k on a 997.1 is "high mileage" perhaps due to IMS concerns or otherwise. But savvy and informed buyers can get some serious bargains because of this. On the flip side, if you buy low mileage with intention to sell in a few years, I'd say try to sell before it hits 30K or so to maximize value. From my experience 40K miles is where prices start to really drop, then tend to level off for a little while after that.

I just bought a 911 GTS. negotiated price is in the low 70s and reaches into the 60s. Different from advertised price.

I looked at 08 base carreras also. Found high 40s. at negotiation

I'm tempted to look at the 06-08 997 but as silly as it may be I feel haunted by the potential IMS issues. I have wanted a 911 my entire life and at 27 I did not expect to be in this position.

I feel that all my luck has been used up getting here so much earlier than expected and i'm nervous about even risking anything.

09 CPO seems to be the least expensive, safest purchase I can make.

CPO is a no brainer especiallly when you can negotiate a "fair price". Good luck with search.

Price seems right and at 50k and probably no records there will be a lot of maintenance due adding a. Few more $$$

I ended up going this route. In Feb, I got an '09 C2 Cab Base with 20K miles on it with a CPO for $55K (with the CPO). It was in fantastic shape and virtually no over revs and my indy gave it a big thumbs up on the rev report.

I originally was looking at 997.1s but with the IMS issues and rationalizing that a Base 997.2 is nearly equal to a 997.1S and some with PCM 3.0 the 997.2 would be the best bang for my buck.
