So I did the 20k service over the weekend including an oil change. After I checked the oil level I also checked the service reminder status and it looked like it reset itself since it was at exactly 8000k miles. This may have been a coincidence but is that something that should be expected or will I need to clear it myself via the Durametric cable or via a dealer visit?

Edit: Would something like this help me clear the maintenance reminder and also an airbag fault?

isn't there an option to re-set the service reminder using the toggle switch on the steering column?

never heard of that. I re set mine with the durametric tool. (997.2)

I tried that thinking there may be an option but there is not. And after searching on RL and 6speed it seems the only way to reset the service reminder is via durametric (or similar) or a dealer visit.

Anybody in Chicagoland have a Pro Durametric that can reset my service reminder this weekend?

The Durametric will reset it to 20,000 miles and two years. A Porsche dealer can reset it to 10,000 miles and one year.
