Default White on white on white 911.

March. Spring in Canada (AKA as the snowiest month of the year in Alberta). we had a great winter in Alberta with little snow and really mild temperatures. I had bravely put on the winter rims and tires I got with my 911 when I bought it last summer and thought that I will drive this 4S beast once in a while in the winter... I just could not do it! Felt wrong when I had my trusty beaten and chipped 325K km Honda Ridgeline with winter tires lined up for winter duty. There has been no snow for the last number of weeks, so I decided that this weekend that I will take the 911 to the Rockies for a conference in Banff. Spectacular drive there. Sudden change in weather on the way back made me appreciate the robustness that this car is blessed with. We drove through a snowstorm with ice rain, battling SUV's and tractor trailers on the 250 km drive back home. The photo's are in my driveway just as we arrived back home. Still having trouble loving those white rims, but it seems to work when everything is white!

Now I understand white wheels on a 911!

Just switched out my winters over the weekend. Sure is nice to be back on summers.

That first pic is awesome! Always have liked white wheels on a white 911. Scared to do it on mine because of the cleaning :-)

Great photos. Your a good photographer. Sport rims are really the best oem wheels for a porsche 997.

mk3boy - painted same as car from factory.
slicky rick - thanks, I agree on Sport rims as my favourite 997 rim. Wish mine were gunmetal with metallic edges. My ultimate rim...

FJO66, where are you located? I'm in Edmonton, and was rather miffed to find so much snow yesterday, the first day of spring! We went down to Calgary Friday and the roads were kinda crappy until just north of Red Deer. Drove home Saturday afternoon and it was foggy until just north of Red Deer again too.

BTW, I have the same wheels on my car...but gunmetal with metallic edges, and actually my least favourite part of the car! LOL.

I have always liked the white on white or black on black. Some colors cant get away with it but those two always look great.

Hi Saaboteur, I am just north of Lacombe. We should talk about those rims. My summers are Turbo's...I'll send some photo's if you are interested. Are those gunmetals your winter setup?

Hmm...whilst I'm not 100% on the wheels, I actually think I'm going to keep them, as they were original to the car. I've got a set of BBS CH-Rs on the way, but they need refinishing and I won't be getting to that for a while yet.

The stock wheels are my year round wheels - in the winter the car sat in the garage! Still waiting for all the snow to melt so I can get out on the road again. Even though I've had the car since mid September, I only had about six weeks of driving before putting it away for the winter.

Those are cool shots (no pun intended). What I find interesting is the location that the snow sticks to the rear fenders and how the stone guard locations are below that location. That snow looks dirty so it's likely being thrown there by the front wheels, not accumulating there from the sky. Maybe snow is lighter than rocks so it accumulates higher and the stone guards that are lower actually do a good job of deflecting rocks but not snow. Nothing specific to add here - just an observation I made when enjoying the photos. Thanks for sharing.
