Default Question for anyone who upgraded to PSE

How does the PSE sound compared to stock when the PSE is on the "off" position? And is it just as quiet?

Thanks

With PSE off, PSE exhaust system sounds just like 997's without PSE.

How loud is it when on, compared to aftermarket sports exhausts like Agency Power, Fabspeed, etc?

Here's my tweak to this based on my observation: When used with a center bypass, the PSE is a somewhat louder than stock even when turned off.

I originally tried the Sharkwerks bypass with the stock cans and thought the difference was rather subtle. Adding the PSE woke it up more even when "off"... certainly louder than when I had the stock side cans. When "on" it gets quite a bit louder plus you add a lot more off-throttle crackle.

I did not try the PSE with the stock center but I assume jhbrennan has this right since 1) He normally is, and 2) the center clearly performs a lot of the sound suppression.

Sorry, I missed your second question in my first response.

I also ran the unswitched Fabspeed Max-Flo side cans for a while before I ran into a deal on a pair of used PSE cans/tips from a GTS. You are going to find many opinions on this, but I prefer the throatier sound I get with the PSE and the fact I can switch it on/off at will (I used a hardwired switch), but you can get switched aftermarkets as well. The Fabspeed has a somewhat higher pitched tone than the PSE, but they are both interesting in their own way. You'll want to try to get a chance to hear them in person if possible. Recordings just don't do them justice. Tubi also gets a lot of good reports.

When I was considering it, my local pre-owned sales manager found one on the lot and took me for a spin in it. Maybe you have a nearby dealer that could do this for you if he has one in stock?

By the way, please note that my references were to a 997.2 PSE. I just realized from your signature that you are probably looking at the PSE for a 997.1 so the comparison may not be quite the same since you have no center muffler (other than the cats). It is my understanding that the 997.1 PSEs were considered better sounding than the .2s in stock form so maybe yours would sound even better!

PSE on 997.1 was much louder than on 997.2.
You must replace center muffler on 997.2 to get the same volume.
PSE alone, is still an improvement on 997.2, though!
