Default Nav Radio/HU

Has anyone here purchased a remanufactured PCM Nav/radio from Suncoast? Are they truly re manufactured from Porsche or just pull outs from cars they've had in their shop.? Also, their prices seem a little steep, not much of a discount from original price.

I am in need of a replacement Bose Nav head unit and the ones I've seen on eBay are a little sketchy. Just wondering what my options are as a total replacement for aftermarket HU's are in the 1000's of dollars.

Thanks

Honestly if my OEM took a crapper I woukd just get a new Pioneer or Alpine head unit with modern touch screen and new maps and Bluetooth. All built in. For 1200 or so for the unit and install kit from Nav-tv

Yes, but I have the Bose. If I were to go the aftermarket route I'd have to buy the $600 adaptor to use the existing wiring/amp on top of a new HU. Otherwise, I'd have to try to go with an aftermarket amp that works with the speakers, IIRC.
I wouldn't mind just spending $1200, but it seems it's just not possible. It seems more around $2000+ is what people are typically spending.

You can skip using the Bose amp, and use the cheaper instillation kit. Then you have to use the stock signals from the head unit wired into the OEM speakers or add you own external amp then to the OEM speakers. I bought the 600 dollar adapter, but for now kept the OEM HU and just added the Sirius unit. The previous owner already added the parrot BT. Only issue with it is that is does not stream music from the phone.

Hi All,
Great thread for me, still digesting it.

Question: To all above with 2 speakers in the doors -- do you have the 490 sound option? If not, did you add a crossover when you added the tweeter?

My 88 cab seems has OEM grill cover for tweeter but no speaker, just empty hole. I have only the 158 option (SQR 46 Reno). Therefore, I havent found any wiring for a tweeter and it looks like I need to add a crossover from the existing door 5 inch wire in order to add tweeters.
Any out there run into this situation? Any recommendations for adding crossover to the door?

thanks for any advice!

POSTED IN WRONG FORUM, sorry. Please ignore. Cant figure out how to delete

When I first purchased my 997.1 8 yrs ago, the very first thing I did was buy a pioneer unit with carplay, the MOST adapter for the bose system, and the stock-looking fascia. Even with DVD audio (lol who the f uses cds anymore??), the stock head unit audio sounded awful. With the afermarket head unit, the sound quality of the Bose setup is phenomenal. IMO, it's wildly irrational to keep the stock unit unless you're in a 997.2 and do the carplay upgrade (and even then the audio quality is probably worse than aftermarket).

Do you have a 997.1 or a 997.2?

I just did a head unit replacement and it cost $1500. This included the bose adaptor. Check these guys out, they helped me a lot: https://cai-store.com/

I have no affiliation with them, just a happy customer
