Default Memory Seats-Program Keys

I have the Adaptive Sport Seats, and am not clear on programming the key remote. The Owner's Manual states, "Each remote control (up to six) can be assigned an individual seat and door mirror position." It then goes on to explain the procedure using "key button 1."

Am I correct that I would use key button 1 to program all keys (up to six)? My confusion exists because of seat memory buttons 2and 3. I guess these are for manual storage not related to the key remote?

Clarification would be appreciated.

Thanks

2 and 3 are for storing memory positions on the car. 1 is for storing on the current key.

By "current key," any of six different ones programmed by button 1?

I thought memory number 1 was for using Key 1. So soon as you get in and you are using Key 1 it sets the seat potions.

Therein lies my confusion. The instructions seem to say you can use 1 to program up to six keys not just one key. I guess I'll just try the three keys I have, and see what happens.

Here is how I understand it:

Button 1 can program each key. Button 2 and Button 3 are for separate memory positions independent of the keys.

If I am incorrect, please post here.

That's the way I see it. Will verify in the next few days.

You are correct. Button 1 is only for programming the key that is currently in the ignition switch. You can program up to six keys by inserting them in the ignition one at a time. From Neutral or Park position, start the car with the key you want to program, adjust the desired positions of your drivers seat and the outside side view mirrors, press the large Memory key button down, keep it pressed, and then press Button 1. Release the memory key and button 1. Proceed to programming the parking aid position of the outside mirror on the passenger side by engaging reverse gear (see procedure for this in the owners manual). This completes the programming of that key. Repeat for each key.

I've confirmed all this with one minor correction, the car does not have to be started. Just move the key to the On position, switch position 1.

Thanks for this thread. I just bought a 997.1 and was wondering how to do this. I have not grabbed the Manual out of the glove box yet.
