Default What might it be

I was driving at night, about 50-60 mph, while taking a turn did not see the road clearly and for a few seconds went off the road and then quickly back on the tarmac. There was a loud thunk from the rt front side, and now there is a vibration in the steering wheel and perhaps some vibration that I can also feel coming thro the driver's seat. I was wondering what it might be, since it will be a few days before I take the car to the dealer. I dont see any dents visually in the wheel or body of the car.

Perhaps some damage to the rear tire?

Best case scenario, you bent wheel or two on the side of the car that went off the road. Worst case scenario, you have damaged the control arm(s). The wheels and tires themselves could also be damaged even if you can't visually see the damage.

Your symptoms remind me of either a bent wheel or a wheel out of balance. The later can happen if a balancing weight is dislodged.

Sounds like you've bent your front rim.

If you can jack that wheel up into the air you can spin it and check for yourself. Have someone spin the wheel for you as you watch the inside lip of the rim. You should be able to watch the rim edge wandering out of round. That is the weakest point on the rim. It's the furthest from the wheel's spokes and hitting a large bump at speed will tend to knock that side of the rim out of round.

If bent the rim can most likely be saved with proper straightening.

Bent wheel as others have offered. Also you have to consider possibly the tire sidewall -- maybe on the inside -- got damaged.

Depending upon what you hit the alignment could have been upset or there could even be some suspension damage, something got bent.

After you get the wheel/tire sorted you might want to have the car's suspension/steering hardware checked, possibly event get the alignment done to ensure the ar is not bent from the encounter of whatever it was it encountered.

2100 for a new wheel and alignment? Did you have some HRE wheels or something?

1600 for a stock wheel? You can buy an entire set on eBay for 600$. That's a bummer for you.

Yes, the bent wheel has value, can be repaired if not cracked anywhere and straightened like new. It would have been more value to you over buying a new one because anyone else looking wont want to pay much. Straighten is approx $100 to $150.
