While this kind of behavior is encountered anywhere people of means enjoy their cars (here in the states, too), is it just me or does it seem like this is more prevalent in the UK?

I like the idea of following his social media...

Makes me sick to see what was done to your car. I cannot even take it when people grafitti someone elses building which can be fixed easily/cheaply most of the time... but this just is on a whole other level. Sorry it happened, but like others said, hopefully it will come back to you better than before.

It is much better that you didn't catch him in the act. Someone who would do this most-likely wouldn't hesitate to turn that 10 inch knife on you to save their own skin.

Mann, I just saw this. This is so wrong, I would have beaten the crap out of the little twerp myself too, and get myself landed in jail in the process. Sorry you have to go thru' this, but once it's fixed, time will make it history.

I was contacted by the repair centre today - £12500 ($20,000) for the repair. My concern now is the insurance company will write the car off rather than repair it.

+2. The people who do things like this are--by their very nature--stupid and emotionally needy. He will turn to his peers for validation. Most likely online, and most likely in a not-too-subtle way.

Frankly, I'd be surprised if he (or his toothless boyfriend) didn't take video of this while they were doing it.

Rage is the only word to describe my reaction. I totally agree with the Pulp Fiction quote - you don't eff with another man's car. Or give his wife a foot massage.

I'll never understand these types of actions. It's not like you guys were mortal enemies or anything. Be sure to ask the insurance company for diminished value since your car has to be repainted.

Many of the unwashed masses consider those who work hard to be their mortal enemies.

Unfortunately there are useless parasites everywhere. Eventually the buggers will get their just desserts.
A little story about justice....I was learning to fly back in 1973 when the airport had some aircraft vandalized and fuel stolen. Unfortunately it's easy to steal fuel from aircraft that don't have locking gas caps and this was in the middle of the big gas shortage back then. All Aircraft also have quick drains but that's a slow way to remove fuel. One of the little twerps didn't realize his wallet had fallen out of his pocket in one aircraft and the cops found it. Long story short, all three of them were 18 and from what I could figure out, accepted a plea to mow a huge area of grass next to the main taxiway every week for the whole summer with a standard home mower. The punishment was because ....if I'm not mistaken, tampering with aircraft is a felony over here. The woman who ran the airport was a tough woman and stayed on them, and we got to drink ice tea on the park bench and watch the little buggers mow the lawn.
I don't know if they ever repeated, but they would never forget the creative justice that judge served out.

If I were the presiding judge, would rule justifiable homicide…

Time for a garage, or one of these:

after a long debate with the insurance company they have agreed to repair the car - initially they said the damage was more than 65% so they were going to declare it a total loss. But they valued the car at only £18k. I pointed out the only two yellow 911s to the same spec in the UK were £30k, so they agreed to review their valuation and came back with a valuation nearer £25k which meant the repair was below the threshold required - so they have authorised the repair work

happy man......looking forward to getting it back looking like new.
