Just noticed the corner of my left rear tail light lens is broken on my 997.1 targa. Have the piece which fell off, will super glue hold it permanently?

I would step up the strength of the glue and use epoxy. You can buy it at Home Depot in the paint supply aisle. Use the two part epoxy for plastics. Just use it sparingly and clean any excess off while it's wet. It dries quickly.

Any cyanocrylate (like crazyglue or superglue) will work, since they have very high shear strength performance and your tail light will not flex or be subject to mechanical stress.
BTW, good to see another 997.1 Targa

I'm going with a hybrid suggestion; Remove the taillight and firmly lock it into a position where the broken edge is pointing straight up (the glued on piece will be less likely to fall over while drying). Maybe just a steady position clamped between your knees would work. Then use a very conservative amount of super glue to get it glued back in place. Be sure to use very little so nothing significant squishes out. If you get any on the lens, do not wipe as it will mar the plastic and look flat. At least unwiped it will stay glossy but have a bit of a rise that likely only you would notice.
Once dried, mix a dollop of epoxy and lay it along the seam in the back where no one will see it. This will give it structural rigidity beyond just the super glue. As long as you stay on the back side no one will ever see it. (If you choose to go with all epoxy, I would also fear that the epoxy would mar the plastic if rubbed, but I'm not sure. You could test it on the back side plastic housing to see).
I'm usually a big fan of epoxy and its strength as is wbellinz, but I think in this case the join line would look cleaner with super glue,as recommended by alex and rick.

I wouldn't think so. That part of the light is flush with the fender and under no tension or stress at the attachment point for the light. I can't imagine how it would break off without some deliberate intervention.

The common way it gets broken is during washing or drying. The mitt or towel "grabs" onto the point as it slides past and breaks it off. Fairly common failure. Also watch out for your C and S on the back logo. Those can snag easily too.

I just checked the pricing on the right side and it did go up slightly from Porsche, so pricing has been up dated. We try to keep the most up to date pricing, but sometimes Porsche adjusts items with out us knowing about it. Thanks for heads up, much appreciated.
