I want to install some all season (A/S) tires on my C2S for the winter months. We get a limited amount, if any, snow in Winston-Salem, NC so snow tires are not in the mix. Since the car is my DD I want some A/S ties that will still grip in the colder winter temps.

Thanks, in advance, for any first hand experiences with A/S tires you may be able to share here.

I have Continental Sport Contact DWS on my 3 series. They worked very well last winter when we had the snow. I am just south of you in Pittsboro.

DWS all the way! Quiet, great
Grip in rain, and have snow capability and/or cold temps. Price is right too! I went w 10mm less width front and back 225 and 295 instead of 235 & 305. Just a great tire!

I had DWS... liked em. My indy says they are very popular with Porsche owners... they are also the cheapest for the size last year.

I thought they wore quickly, but YMMV

I have used Bridgestone RE970AS all year round for a while now. Excellent tire, half the price and twice the mileage of typical sport tires.

The Bridgestone RE970AS and the Continental Sport Contact DWS are the only A/S tires listed on Tire Rack that will fit our cars.

I read a lot of reviews on both tires A few people that reviewed the Conti DWS said they had issues with bubbles on the side wall of the tires. One guy had three of his tires replaced because of the bubbles. Any Conti owners experience this issue?

Ditto. Had them on an S8 and RX8, excellent tires.

My DWS's have been solid. Decent handling in bad weather and seem to have good tread wear also. I would recommend them.

I've had the dws's for about 8k miles and almost 3 years. No problems. Might be interesting to check the insides of the rear tires where all the heat is for bubbles.

I had Contis in several Porsches and they were the worst tires I used... Between the DWS and the Bridgestone, I would choose the latter.

But... I would rather go with a slight size change and pick 225/35ZR19 and 285/30ZR19 in Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3, a great tire.

I've had some Conti models that are crap but DWS are pretty good. Had them on my S550 Benz with 20 inch rims before i traded it in for the Carrera.
Soft, quiet good traction and ok in 4 inches of snow if you are careful. but not a winter tire by any means.

Have them on wifes car as well. I did however have some issues with them being off in weight had to exchange one as soon as i bought a set for CLS500. It was few pounds off. But i guess that happens once in a while. After sitting in garage over winter they seem to be puling the car to the right yet alignment been done 3 times. Also developed vibrations around 60 yet balanced perfectly.

Same. I had horrible experience with Contis on BMWs in the past. Terrible luck with Michelins on my Merc also, 3 sets all feathered prematurely (perfect alignment, no suspension issues), the only reason I kept buying them was they prorated the mileage so a new set was cheaper than switching brands. Finally last time went to Bridgestones and problem solved.

I'm on Pirelli Sottozeros. Second season on them and have been very happy with them. Ride well and nicely grippy.

One more vote for the Bridgestones. Been driving them year round for a couple of years. Have never felt wanting for traction.
