At the time my CPO expired I checked out Fidelity and the best price I could get on a 4-yr platinum was $8200. I found a Paragon Tech Choice Ultimate (or Ultra, I forgot), same coverage as Fidelity Platinum but for 6 years, for $4600. So far they've paid me back more than half the original cost with no problems getting repairs approved. I'm not sure if they still write policies for Porsche though. It might vary by state too.

Other than a complete engine failure, what could break at once that would cost 6-8k to fix? I have no warranty and my car runs like a top. I keep it so up to date on everything it's ridiculous. Not to mention I've had all the little typical items replaced already (water pump, serpentine belt, ignition lock, etc).

Also had the spark plugs, coil packs, MAF and filters changed out (all fluids too, of course) when I got the car just so I could know I was starting fresh... Other than that, what could I really need? *knock on wood

i called them and they quoted 7500 for $250 deduct 6/60 plat. my car has 29k on it.

Mossy motors will give you a screen shot of the actual cost and list price. so i paid $5350 for 100 deduct 6/60.

I don't know, but the engine in my 06 C4S ate itself and Fidelity paid out the $25K it cost to replace the short block. They also covered a new water pump and O2 sensor 3 months prior.

These warranties will cover all those small things that could add up over 6 years. A complete engine failure will cost you a lot more than $8K. Think of it as buying health insurance. Better to have and not need it than the other way around. The again, you could always just assume the risk and hope for the best.

Why did you get the warranty while still under CPO?

It's more economical when the car is still covered by CPO.

Aren't all the little things maintenance items. Serpentine belt, plugs, fluids etc...
Even the water pump, shouldn't that be replaced preventatively so you aren't stranded somewhere or your car dies while you are going 65 on the highway?

On a 997.2 the only think I can think of where you would want a warranty is the transmission on a PDK. For a 997.1 I would want one for the engine....

Alex 911- i bought the Fidelity Warranty while car was still under CPO as the price was cheaper if car was <25k miles. mine was at 24.8k or so & still had 8 months CPO. Porsche dealer here switched to offering only Zurich warranties & price was just nuts- was advised by svc tech, if i could get Fidelity at decent price to get it .

Called Sunset Porsche, Fin Mgr -asked for their best RL/Renntech price (told them i'd bought Fidelity from them in past & buy all my parts there-) Thought it was decent price so just went with it. -

Early last yr when i bought my car i checked on Costco warranty & almost bought a 7 yr from them, even though i had CPO- decided to wait since i had just got my car it was CPO- of course Costco stopped selling for porsche then stopped selling the warranty at all. I didn't want that to happen with Fidelity or their pricing to increase substantially by my waiting 6-8 months till CPO expired.-

From what Sidwin posted, i'm glad i bought when i did, as it appears the price they're quoting now is much higher than what i paid. In my mind it was worth $4300 for 6 yrs coverage- I would have elected to self insure at $6,$7 or $8k prices that seem to be quoted to some now for coverage.

Buying one of these policies is all about your tolerance for financial risk.

I bought my policy for my 2008 C2S after my 1 year old new BMW navigation system went red screen on me and the warranty bill for a complete replacement was over $3,500. I started to think about all the electronics my 997 has and the risk that a gremlin may surface and cost me a fortune in repairs. Add to the concerns was IMS (albeit very low risk) and silly things like TMPSs that will need replacement (very high risk), the economics made sense to me.

I am not a big risk taker so the warranty works for me. So I have some level of comfort through October 2018.

Hadn't thought about the mileage component.

he is amazing..just purchased 6/60000 $250 deductible fidelity platinum policy for $1773.00. I'm still in original Porsche warranty till end of December. Mine is a 997.2 C2S with 6200 miles. Couldn't beat the price was $1100 more in Florida

give him a call - great to work with, larry
rabbky:
Can you re-confirm the price you paid? I was just quoted $2901 for the same policy and my 997.2 (2010) has just 15,000 miles on it with 2 months warranty left on it.
Thanks,
Topgun8

What deductible? $250? 2900 is pretty good if so.
