Default Widebody ?

Do all Carrera 4 have the widebody or only the 4S? Is it the same for the previous generation 996?

The widebody is only the 4S, Turbo, and GT3RS. Don't know anything about the 996.

997 WIDEBODY cars are:

Carrera 4 & 4S,
Targa4
GTS
GTS4
Speedster
Sport Classic
Turbo
Turbo S
GT2
GT2RS
GT3RS
GT3RS 4.0

Only the rear track is wider.....front geo is same as narrow body cars.
Carrera, CarreraS, GT3...ARE NOT WIDEBODY CARS!!!

True and I think one more to add to the list if I am not mistaken is the 50th anniversary edition...it is not AWD but gets the wide body???

Just found a Car and Driver review:
"The Carrera 4 (C4) version of Porsche's venerable 911 is-as you may be aware-an all-wheel-drive model commanding about a $7000 premium over the cost of the rear-wheel-drive 911. In this latest iteration of the 997 generation, the rear wheel arches are flared about 0.9 inch to accommodate 295/35ZR-18 tires on the C4 and 305/30ZR-19 doughnuts on the 4S. You can spot a ridge alongside the taillight housings that is not present on rear-drive cars. Despite the more muscular haunches, the two models claim good aerodynamic performance, with drag coefficients of 0.30 and 0.29 for the C4 and C4S, respectivel."

For some reason my C4S was built from the factory with the Carrera S II wheels and 295/30/19 tires. Even though I am not the original owner the window build sheet was passed along and that is how it was built? But I have put 20in wheels on the car and a 20x12 on the rear and a 325/25/20 fits no problem and looks mean as he!!

I also think that the speedster and the sport classic were wide body cars

Leave it to Porsche to leave us all confused -

There is no 997 Targa only a Targa4.
I believe the GT2 is also a wide body - same width as GT3RS
What about the Sport Classic (only in ROW, not US)?

As others have responded the "S" designation has no bearing on body width.
