Tire Size Issue - 997 Lobster Claw Wheels
I own a 2007 Carrera S Cab, 19" standard Carrera Wheels (so-called "Lobter claws"). Tire sizes on these wheels are 265/35-19 front and 295/30-19 rear. The Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 does not come in a 295/30-19 size, but is available in a 305/30-19. Anyone know if mounting the wider (305/30) tire on the wheel could cause problems?
Any help/suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Lowered?
spacers?
235/19 front, 295/19 back is the stock fitment
On my last set of rears, I ran 305/19 with 5mm spacer on a lowered H&R car on lobsters, without a problem.

305/30-19s are fine. We have these on OEM GT3 Wheels on my wife's '05 C2S and I have them on my '05 RUF C2S with Champion RS171 wheels on a lowered Bilstein suspension with a bunch of RSS parts using GT3 alignment settings - neither uses spacers and there is no rubbing or any issues - the extra 10mm of meat will look more aggressive from the back and provide a slightly larger footprint.
Are you really running 265s in the front - that is a very non-standard width and I'd be surprised if it didn't effect the handling / balance of the car a bit.

Just a friendly FYI, they are called "Lobster Forks" not Lobster Claws. Each individual spoke resembles the fork you use to dig the lobster out of the shell and dip it in butter with - not that I have first hand experience b/c I don't like lobster.

Your front tires are waaay to wide. I am surprised they are not rubbing the fenders. Regardless, no doubt this has negatively affected the handling/balance of the car. Your front tires are meant to break free before your rear ones do, so as to avoid having the rear of the car become the front as you are driving. 235 front and 295 or 305 rear is the right balance.

Thank you everyone for the helpful posts and recommendations - and no, I'm not running 265's on the front, they are the standard 235's. Sorry for any confusion I may have contributed to.
Pete, your wife's 2005 Pink Pearl is outstanding! Glad some Porsche enthusiasts choose adventurous colors.

The Carrera Sport rear wheel is 11.5in wide versus the Lobster Forks rear wheel which is 11in...a 305 will work on the Lobster Forks but the OP might have a bit of bulging???
I said "screw it" and went with a 20x12 wheel and a 325 tire...they are friggin huge but but then again I have a C4S and I think there is a tad more room back there???

Thanks and I love your rims and I thought really hard about getting those for my C4S. Recently there was a 2011 C4S on the showroom at my local Porsche with your setup and it looks awesome! Also I wanted at least a 305 in the rear. And then the Porsche Motorsports shop here where I live had these HRE's and we kept negotiating until...well you saw the pic (and my avatar)...Ha! Ha!
