Scam alert
This guy is still at it- except the car has 35k now and he's asking 30,000. I placed a low bid for it on ebay, who later cancelled the auction. I received an email from him today, except he is now "Steven Hauer"
The blog where he wanted me to check out the pics sent me to this thread... I knew it was BS, but thanks for confirming!
original message:
Hi,
My 2005 Porsche 911 Carrera is still for sale.
My asking price is $30,000.
The car is in mint condition.
35,000 miles
3 owners
Clear title in hand
No liens
No accidents
No dents or scratches
No paintwork
Non smoker
Always garaged
Only the regular maintenance was done
I must sell it because I need money to invest in business opportunity.
I will send the carfax report and pictures in my next message. More info about the car will be there.
Please check it and let me know if you have other questions.
Regards,
Steve

This is such an old trick - man I can't believe anyone isn't familiar with this type of a scam. It's textbook - the guy is probably a Nigerian and lives in a tin shed in total squalor. It's actually kind of sad that anyone could be fooled by this and that some poor slob keeps trying this BS even knowing the chances of finding a sucker are almost infinitesimally tiny. I've seen this kind of stuff for years on ebay. Always the same story.
When I owned an NSX I was very active on a NSX Prime and there was a guy there that worked the "Nigerian" till he took a photo of himself holding a poster with these letters and numbers on it: 1M 1D10T. Sure enough it was this poor Nigerian in the slums over there - it was sad - I almost felt sorry for the guy - this guy on Prime worked him for at least 2 weeks or longer and that was the end. Unreal to think this is still going on enticing people to even call.
The real motto is; if it seems too good to be true - It ALWAYS is! Not usually but always....unless Chip Foose pops out of your trunk and overhauls you....

So apparently the 'Nigerian' scam is 200 years old:

A prince from Western Africa who had to flee just emailed me and they have a ton of cash and gold in bank storage in the UAE but he needs to pay the decades worth of bank storage fees before they will open the vault, total catch 22, he needs investors to pay the fees and will split the proceeds once we get the vault open. Any takers?
Just kidding.
Just kidding.
