Default 997.1 C4S or 997.2 C2S?

Trying to decide between an '08 C4S tip, cpo'd vs an '09 C2S pdk, cpo'd. I like the awd & how the C4S "feels"/drives vs C2S. Have always wanted a C4S. Potential ims on '08 & pdk on '09 are points for '09 in my mind. Would likely keep this vehicle as a dd for 4+yrs, 15k miles/yr. Thanks for any thoughts/opinions, experiences. Much appreciated.

If you plan on keeping it, I would get the one you enjoy the most. I personally would opt for the .2....maybe look for an 09 C4S

Do you need awd? If not, the .2 car is improved in many areas. Tip, in no comparison for PDk.

I see you are in SoCal so I can't image the AWD being a big advantage for you. The PDK and improved engine in the .2 are more than enough reason to go that route.

If you are set on a non manual car, get the pdk... hands down! Along with monumentally better shifting, it will resell better later.

I had debated a '06-'08 versus '09 and finally settled on a '09 C4S. I live in Chicago (first year) and kept thinking about the 4S. In the end, I decided the refresh, engine upgrade, PCM upgrade ect was worth the extra money. I also heard from multiple people to favor the PDK over tripronic.

After having just spent the last week driving a car equipped with PDK around Europe, my vote is definitely for PDK. It's really nice. If you don't need AWD, then you won't miss it. If you really want it, then hold out for a 2009 C4S.

Personally, I vote the .2 between these. If you want C4S just keep looking and you'll find a .2 C4S w/PDK. Price will be materially higher than the tip, of course.

My 996 C4S tip was great, fantastic. But when I drove a 997.2 PDK, I traded it in.

.2 with the PDK is the right call, not just because it's a much better transmission, but also because if you're going to keep it for about 4 years, the value of the .2 with the PDK will be much higher than the .1 with the Tip. Once there are a good selection of used PDK cars available and they're a few years older, my personal opinion is that 997.1 cars with the Tip will be close in value to the 996s, just like 996 6-speeds are worth much less than 997 6-speeds.
