Resetting OBD sensors...?

Advice please......
Had oil changed at dealer recently the a few days later took car to Illinois Emissions testing center where the cars OBD sensors could not be read requiring me to go back
Car has 5,500 miles. No warning lights never has had any
What to do please?
Giant hassle

do you mean the emissions ctr simply couldnt read via OBD? maybe their reader is broken. stupid question but they did have your car (or ignition) on, right?
never heard of that before, not being able to read anything via OBD...

You mean the OBD II readiness monitors have not completed. The monitors check the O2 sensors, catalytic convertor, EVAP, etc. The dealer must have cleared some DTC's that did not set a check engine light. When you clear codes it clears the readiness monitors so they have to run again. It can take a couple of days to run the all the monitors. Go back to the dealer and tell them what happened and have them hook up the scan tool to see if all the monitors have run. It will take all of 5 minutes to complete. If all the monitors run and say complete with no DTC's then all the systems are good. That's what the Emission testing center is looking at when it looks at OBD II monitors.
