Default What are the 'safest' mods?

What are the best modifications other than clear side markers to 'spice up' my totally bone stock 05 C2S? It has the stock upgraded IMS and only 26K on the clock. Lots of people seem to 'flash' the ECU but I am really paranoid after reading the story below of blown 997 engines and the opinions of poster 'Flat6 innovations' who seems to have a vast experience with the negatives of screwing around with the engine management settings. Maybe just a nice exhaust, and if so any recommendations??

Fister sport mufflers. They are inexpensive and they sound fantastic. You'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner...

If you want some noise you could do fister mufflers or the gundo hack. If you want some more noise after that and some HP get some 200cell cats.

Then you could get into:
-wheels
-front lip/bumper
-rear spoiler etc

Wevo semi-solid motor mounts transformed the handling on my 996 C4S into something much tighter and much nicer. I highly recommend this mod also.

Clearlight signals
Spacers
Exhaust

I wouldn't mess with the ECU at all, though a few guys here have done it and don't seem to have any issues.

How do the Fister's compare to PSE on the 997.1?

My experience is with the 996, so I can't tell you.

On the 996, I found that the Fisters were slightly louder than PSE, and they had a slightly deeper growl. Both sound good in their own way.

Most people who I know who have Fisters believe that they make the car sound the way it should sound. They are very mellow at low rpm and when cruising. They don't drone at all. They open up nicely above 4,000 rpm.

Mandatory mods for me are:

1. Exhaust
2. Wheels
3. Drop
4. Spacers
5. Steering wheel

All safe. I'd leave the ECU alone.

What! No love for the 'claws'. Actually I'm not that much in love w them either. I did just get some new Michelin PSS (305s in the back) and I am loving that upgrade

I guess i'm in the minority, but I love the "claws". I think they give a 911 a real beefy look - suitable and almost 80's. Wouldn't change them.

You can do as much as your budget will allow.

Many like the newer look of LED driving lights and rear lights--all available from myriad suppliers.

The best option to me was the PSE--which you can do with the Gundo Hack but it is not reversible.

They're Lobster Forks (a la the little fork you often get when ordering lobster). Lobster Claw rims - now that would be something special!

On the topic of exhaust, maybe new tips. I think it was TechArt that sold the overlapping ovals. Understated but very cool looking. Sadly, stupidly expensive (+/- $900?) and I think fitment may not have included '05.

You're not alone. I still have mine even though I've gone aftermarket for the moment-

-OP, safest mod would be a drop in K&N filter and/or some sort of aftermarket air box.
