Does anyone know what happens if I install a memory seat into a car w/o seat memory.
Of course the memory function won't work, but will the seat work (move) at all?

hi, im having the same question/problem
i sold my gt2 buckets seats in my 997.2 car and purchased comfort seats, full electric, heat, and memory.
so i started with the passenger seat install, bolt in and plug it and worked perfectly.
then the driver side, i connected the yellow connector and realised that there's a black box(memory seat module) that is unplugged.
the car isnt equipped with the memory buttons on the left panel.
i dont mind removing that black box, but i imagine i need to switch some wires under seat?

good to see I am not alone with that.
I believe I read somewhere that all it takes is to supply the memory module in the seat with power, but I'd would love to see that confirmed before I pull the trigger

As I recall, there is just a single yellow plug on the driver's seat that controlled the power to the seat as well as the airbag and on the passenger seat there were two plugs, one that provided the power and the other for the weight sensor. if there is no memory buttons on your car then you simply lose the memory function, I don't think there is a separate plug that comes from the car for the memory module on the drivers seat.

Wiring to seat is same. Memory for seat position is from same memory package that comes with sport chrono option.
Do not forget to unplug battery when you swap seats around.

Paseb,
Based on your post I did a lot research and it looks like the only option is to rewire all the switches in the seat
http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarti..._997_seats.htm
Even though I have the technical skills to do that, I don't have the time. So I ordered seats where only the seat back forward/aft is electric, the rest is manual. Consequently these seats have no memory. So I hope they will be plug and play. However these seats have seat heaters, so there will be a project for me in the future, figuring out how to get them to work.
