Not many with fewer options - no PDK, no CLs, no Nav, no heated seats - just right for me.

It's the only one in my garage. That's unicorn enough for me. Closer to a stallion than a unicorn...

Even though there are many more 997's than 993's for example, I still feel its a very special car and love seeing other ones on the road.

As for unicorns, my '09 Targa 4 is somewhat a low numbers car, because most who opted for the Targa new forked out the extra $'s for the 'S' model.

Using that vin link someone posted, I calculated that there were only 116 997.2 Targa 4's imported into the US, possibly the lowest number variant (not sure how many GTS's/GT3's were sold). The spec on mine is nothing special (bose/heated seats/dimming mirror) but I love the dark blue / beige combo and the best bit for me is that it's a MANUAL!

My real unicorn however is my 2001 Oxford Green M Coupe, which is 1 of 6 sold in the US ever, and 1 of less than 16 sold globally. Both cars are keepers

As I was typing that, that brown turbo cab just got posted. WOW, its a beauty, congrats!

It's a mass produced car, relatively speaking. It's not a unicorn. Options don't make it a unicorn. Neither does the MSRP new since you bought it used (i remember your initial post because I'm also from so. fl. and like your color combo). Why does it matter?

Thanks! According to Porsche, only 300 2008 turbo cabs were imported and sold in the US. Macadamia Brown Metallic was a new color for that year, but I can't imagine too many were built. I'm guessing that I'll never see another one like mine.

I believe I have one of the black launch edition C2S cars, but not sure -maybe someone can tell from the equipment it came with - black on black, PCCBs, Bose, Full Leather, Sport Chrono with PASM, & Nav, and it was a European delivery car to the original owner (found a toll receipt from the Autobahn when cleaning it the first time). Are launch edition cars worth any more than regular 997.1 C2S cars, not that it mattters much to me since it's my wife's and went through a color change and some equipment swaps - I now have her PCCB brakes on my RUF R-Kompressor and what was the black car is now pink pearl?

Interested to see the leather headliner you have, never seen that option. Mine came with an alacantara headliner...

I think mine is unique.
A base Coupe in PtS Maritime Blue with some well thought out options. Retailed for $92k.

Sport seats, 19" wheels, PASM, lots of carbon, badge & headlight cleaners painted, Euroclassics did a great job on the spec.

All I've added is a Gundo exhaust, replaced the center console in PtS and had the 'RS' stripe added.

Car was born, came off the line, July 4, 2006

The only thing that stands out on my car is the combo of Slate Gray Metallic with Sand Beige full leather.

Nice color. I fantasize about a GT3RS in Mexico blue with black graphics/wheels...and a Sharkwerks 4.1.

Lots of 911s that I have seen are obviously 1 of 1 cars. Some of them were outfitted so tastelessly that I question the eyesight of the original buyers.

Considering the bespoke nature of these cars, the extensive options list and the limited production, it's probably more rare to have two 997s be identical than to have a unicorn.

If you're into the vintage Mustang hobby and you've ever gotten a Marti report, he lists the options on the report in such a way that many people are fooled into thinking that they have something rare when they do not. It's not meant to fool people--just to make them feel special. They made millions of mustangs but there are so many possible options combinations that it is not uncommon to have a 1 of 1.

I'll wager that the options list of a 997 is way longer than for a '67 Mustang--making a 1 of 1 much easier to achieve.
