Default Trade in value 997 C4S cab

I have a 991 targa arriving next week. I do not know what to expect on my trade in. 2009 C4S Cab, loaded launch car. Ruby Red. DD with 64,000 miles. CPO thru end of the year. It's been trouble free, but typical stone chips for its usage.
I would appreciate any educated guesses.
Thanks

That is a Sweet Ride, I would try to sell it, but it might be to late. Why didn't you get the trade in before you ordered your Car? I love Ruby Red, the C4S Cabrio makes it even better. If I were in the market the only thing that would steer me away is the mileage, but then again it makes it a better price fro someone.

I think $50K would be the max with those miles for trade in, I bet they offer less. If selling on your own I would ask $59K and take anything over $55K.

Good luck!!!

64K miles on a 2009 would be excessive according to your dealer. I wouldn't expect too much on a trade in. Low 50's.

Agrre with the opinions above. Trade it in, or offer it up on the list for a small premium over the trade in value. Car will move quickly, and you get to bank the Karma.

Thanks for the responses.
Very small correction, car has 63,000 miles.
Sales guys text says "working on it' then "$46,000". My new car date is now 9/13 so I have not spoken to him live yet. So it goes.

Many states with auto sales tax will credit the trade-in value towards the purchase price. So be sure and take into consideration that sales tax avoided amount. If you sell the car and ask the buyer to meet you at the dealership prior to paying for the new car, some dealers may take it on trade for the full resale price and charge a small transaction fee, say $200, and then sell it to your buyer right then and there. You then have a cashiers check in hand from the seller, a built in sales tax credit, buyer has his car and all is well. Good luck!

Can't wait to see the pics of YOUR Targa!

Be sure and check everything I said with your dealer. While your salesman might not know, you can bet that the finance person will.

"Edmunds used" is a fair estimate, dealers always want to pay even less than quoted values though, maybe a forum member will be the next lucky owner! I think ~$53K is the ballpark for trade/private party sale.
Good luck!, and congratulations on the Targa!

I would try to sell it privately for mid to high 50's and be prepared to accept $55K. The dealers always tend to come in really low and skim several thousand dollars more off the top when they service it and sell it. I have never traded a car in. I usually make several thousand or more selling them myself. That helps reduce the loss you always take on cars.

My experience has been that dealers look at one thing, auction prices. They get a monthly print out of all Porsche cars sold at auction and then base their price around that. They don't use KBB or Edmunds like we do. Remember that your car is just another P car to them and they may not want to put it on their lot, may just want to get rid of it asap and auction is the fastest way to do that.

Just keep in mind that if the dealer gets you $50K, you would have to sell it on your own for at least $55K to brake even (assuming a 9.75% sales tax). So if you can get $57K then you'd be netting $2K for the trouble of selling it on your own and the time this might take.
