There is no gap with my 2008 C2S. I just lay the thin cord over the door sill and close the door.

The weather stripping won't get damaged? I would think that it will create a little gap that would eventually water could get thru.

No. Besides, it's rarely ever in the exact same spot. This is a NON issue. Really.
