Wives who could care less about your 911?

My GF gets jealous.............if I drive mine without her that is. Of course she is (my GF) is happiest when we're cruising with the top down and not twisting and turning. She did want to borrow it last week to drive to Asheville. I asked her when she bumped her head into the wall.

My wife was all for me getting what I wanted. She knows its expensive and she is a little scared of tearing it up so she rarely drives it. But she likes riding in it just fine, she can appreciate the build quality and focused sports car feel. I think she feels a little special riding in it on our "date nights" (married 19 years and young kids, so date nights are rare).

We've had our share of 'fun' cars and the wife loves the 911 the best. Probably because it's the most practical in just about every way. Heated seats, relatively easy ingress/egress, trunk, backseats. She fully supports the addiction!

I'm on my 4th P Car in 20 years. My wife encourages me, and even fakes interest as i talk about it, and joins me for track days. However, she thinks the car is a beast, and only enjoys riding in it when the top is down, and only very rarely does she drive it. Same issues, stiff ride, heavy clutch and shifter, hard to get in/out....

My wife basically likes all the cars from afar. She doesn't want to drive any of the fun cars because she's afraid to do any damage to them. I'm a bit of a perfectionist on vehicle condition so she's mortified about anything happening.
In hindsight this is probably a good system for us. I have to go pick up her BMW from the mechanic this morning from a slight column swipe in her work parking garage. 2,200 dollars of damage from a slight column brush. She brushed it lightly enough that I buffed out the paint to 95% good however the casing of the headlight cracked underneath and water got in. 2,200 dollars for a bi-xenon headlight unit, bulb and ignitor. Hate to see what that would cost on some of the other cars.

+++1 Mine has loved all three of the 911's we have owned, while she prefers not to drive it herself, she is always game to ride shotgun. Of 4 cars we currently own, the 991 is the preferred ride by her. She does laugh at my addiction to driving with the PSE activated all the time

My wife was skeptical until I took her to sit in one... that did the trick... picking it up tomorrow (PPI permitting).
She's already called dibs on the keys every Wednesday to take the kids to track practice.
She liked that it felt slightly glamorous and actually could fit a couple of our (admittedly short-statured) kids in the back, not much different on leg-room than my old BMW 128i in fact.

The SO is as much a Porsche fanatic as I am. The dealer even found a car for "us" that they knew we'd buy because of the rare color scheme they knew she liked... There are times when I feel like I'm just borrowing her car even though I am the only one that can drive it given she hasn't learned how to drive a manual yet. Naturally, I'm not pushing her to learn any time soon.

Back on topic my GF prefers my Vw over the 911. She claims it's too loud (even with PSE off) and gets too much attention.
