Default How common is Sport Chrono option?

Among the cars out and about, how common is it to find 997s equipped with the Sport Chrono option? Is it more common on the 3.8 Ss than on the base model?

Thanks...

Kurt , I'm really not sure how common it is. I do know this , my 2012 did not come with it, and I'm going to add it to my car very soon. I have a PDK 4s, that package would make it even more fun to drive. I anticipate a fee of about 1800 dollars( I have not received any estimates yet).

I think it was standard equip on the S models. Sport PASM is much more rare, I found only one car with SPASM when I was shopping for my '09.

The question asked was about Sport Chrono (dash wart + SPORT button) which was not standard on the S model.

I'm pretty sure Sport Chrono is standard on the S model. Sport Chrono Plus is an option. The provides the Sport button and Sport Plus button.

You may be confusing PASM (standard on the S) and Sport Chrono or Sport Chrono Plus (optional on all models). Sport Chrono is definitely not standard on the S.

I have a 6-speed 2009 C2S, and Sport Chrono is on my option list.

In 2009, the Sport Chrono option was $960 on a 6 sp and $1,320 on a pdk. The latter includes the Plus button for launch control.

It was an option on the MY2009 I ordered, and I added it mainly to get the additional configuration options it provided me via the OBC (On Board Computer). Have yet to use the actual timer/wart beyond playing with it and its provided 'cool look'.

Minok, curious what OBC options were provided. I purchased my 2009 used and do have Sport Chrono. Just wondering if I am missing out on something

Good move. It'll transform the car. I never understood why PDK cars were allowed to be ordered without SC to begin with. Or worse yet, why the base .2 launch car came with PDK without SC. I bet a lot of sales were lost as a result of that. PDK is a lot of fun in sport and sport plus but plain depressing in normal mode which is all you have without SC.

Sport Chrono was not standard on any 997.1 or 997.2 cars. I have a 2010 Carrera S and I do not have Sport Chrono.

In my opinion you're no missing much. I have it and used once to see what the fuss is all about. PASM is a better and more useful feature... How often does one drag one's car?

I'm guessing you have a manual? With PDK cars sport and sport plus alter the character of the car significantly. The "drag one's car" is using the launch control "feature" of Sport plus and is an entirely separate function to sport or sport plus. Sandwedge said it better, the launch 997.2 cars should of had SC if PDK was the trans. Is it a deal breaker? For me yes, but I understand those who [can] live with out it. My $.02

Agreed! I was actually glad the car I bought did not have it, because there is not real gain with a manual transmission. If I had a PDK, then I would want it for the three distinct shift mapping programs.
