Why no love for the 20 " ? out of proportion ? Other reasons ?
The biggest reason is what tires would you run? 30 series front and 25 series rear would be a rough ride and not an improvement in any aspect. So many more options in 19” … not to mention 20” looks to big on the 997

Anyone seen something like the BC Forged RT51 on a 997 ? I think they could look great, I was choosing between a KL12 and HB35 only to realise the more expensive 2 piece (HB35) is heavier by several pounds heavier so I am looking at these as well. they will be in black on a white lowered (KWV3) 997.2 C2
KL12's on Peter's silver 997, HB35's on the red 997 and RT51's on the GT4
I know wheels are a personal thing but any views on a 997 with the TR51's ?

The TR51s look A LOT like Volk TE37s from the tuner crowd. So much so that on initial glance I thought the GT4 was a Nissan 370Z. Just my impression. Ultimately, it’s your car, your money. You have to do what makes your heart flutter.
The KL12's on the silver 911 look great vs the HB35's on the red one, but that could be purely a color thing. I’m borderline offended by black wheels. IMHO it’s a waste in most situations because you can’t really see any detail. It’s generally a dark void. As I stated above, ultimately it’s your car……to each his own.

We have lots of love for 20's on a 997. Does it ride harsher than 19's? Yes. Does that matter to someone that loved the look of 20's? No.
The beauty of custom-built forged wheels is that it allows each individual customer to make the decision of what size will be the best for what they want/like. Photos below of 20's on 997's that we've done:
