Default engine rebuild advice needed

engine rebuild in my near future 2006 997.1 S. looks like a rod bearing gave out, no fluid leakage so i've got my fingers crossed teh damage isn't too bad. what mods, changes, upgrades would you suggest? LN Eng'ing IMS retrofit a must. What else? Of course the clutch will be checked - if need to replace, aftermarket or oem? thx

Contact Jake Raby.... he identified and makes failure mitigation parts for each. Just call their shop. This engine design a few failure modes and he addresses most of them.

I came within a hair of having him rebuild my second, failed Boxster S engine. I contacted a few folks by phone around the USA who uses his engines and parts and they had nothing but praise.

Peace

So what do you think you'll have done during the rebuild?

Worst nightmare for a porsche owner, hope it is not too bad.
Jack Raby or LN upgrade parts should be the way to go.

Raby's shop is costly but does job right. There are other shops that do comparable work. Bore out into 4.0L displacement, do nikasil cylinders, enforced rods, essentially you are looking at building race grade motor if you want it to last. if you want to keep the car do not try to cut costs. If you want to get rid of that car, just get a replacement motor for cheap and sell it. M97 engine done right is a very good motor but it will cost a bit.
