There is a $500 tire? Or you replacing both sides?

Never fails. I bought a new set of Michelin PSS just before driving on a 3,000 mile road trip - picked up a nice 4 inch nail halfway through the trip in Dallas. Luckily the place I chose to rest (and where the tire completely deflated) was adjacent to a full service auto shop.

I picked up a nail in my snow tire. Right in the middle, high in the tread. Wiggled it, it felt loose. Gave it a tug, 1/4 incher. No foul. lucky.
In the frunk, I have tire goo, tire plugs, two air pumps, jack and wrench. Oh, and a 2x4 to get the lowered car high enough to get the jack under.

Preparedness = hopefully never needing

I've thought of putting a small spare up front in which case I would absolutely need a 2x4.

Also, I caught a "nail" last August and I was pissed because I KNEW it was too close to the sidewall to be fixed. I got home and pulled it to find it was the length of a thumb tack. Hope I didn't just jinx myself

I also get a giggle out of mag wheel locks on our cars, and or any car. The lock key is in the the car. If said bad buy wants my wheels, they are going to smash the window in, go thorough the glove box or pop the trunks or frunk to find the wheel key. Leaving additional mess, and I still don't have any wheels.
The only person a mag wheel lock inconveniences, is the owner!

Didn't use to but one of the tires on one of my cars picked up a nail and the service manager looked up the paperwork and found I had some kind of tire road hazard coverage -- cost $7/tire when I had new tires mounted -- and the tire was replaced free of charge.

Had this happen several times. One time on the Turbo a rear tire picked up a nail. The tech checked and the nailed tire had the 3mm of tread depth left to qualify for replacement. I had to buy a new tire for the worn but otherwise good tire on the other side, but the replacement tire for the nailed tire was free and the rear tires had almost 23K miles on them.
