I know a Porsche Club UAE member in Dubai who has nearly 230,000 miles on his 08 997 Carrera S.

He tracks the car regularly and its also his daily driver. However, his binder is full of Porsche Service Center receipts so keep that in mind that a P-Car will be slightly more $ to service.

The smiles per mile are worth it and you only live once!

If the 997 is like the earlier models, the water drains will be under the front trunk lid, under the plastic panels on either side of the battery.

Treat the styrofoam basins with care. You do not want to damage these nor damage the drain from the basin to the bottom of the car.

A shop vacuum works well then use a pitcher of water to ensure the drains allow the water to drain with no delay.

Even if you do not run the car in the rain every time you wash the car these drains play a vital role in keep the watering from overflowing into the cabin.

if i were going for mileage in a 911, the DFI would be it.
I have heard of no problems to date.
Replacement engines are reasonable cost anyhow.

BGB racing have been installing 3.8LDFI in Caymans and racing them for years.

The answer is Yes, with maintenance. 911 is actually the most reliable Porsche, while Cayenne is the worst (and you're ok with Cayenne).

Now, having said that, I would NOT replace a TL with C4S for 150 miles a day commute! You are putting CRAP miles on a great car, your tire and maintenance costs would be huge during the lifetime, depreciation would be even higher than that, the ride/noise while fine/sporty in general, WILL get on your nerves after day after day after day commuting, the road hazards, debris impact 911 more than other cars (stone chips very common on a low car), if you get a flat, you gotto tow, etc, etc, etc...

So, while the car would do just fine 150K, it's not the right car for your commute IMO. I'd get a 2nd hand sporty sedan instead with CPO warranty, with more feature comfort for your long commute, and one that wouldn't depreciate as much. My 0.02.

I agree. 40 miles per day is one thing, 150 miles a day is something different. The ride/noise in a 997 will annoy the hell out of me if I had to drive it everyday for 150 miles. Just as FYI, I can hardly hear people talk on the radio when I drive the 911. That's why on days when I just want to go somewhere, I take the other car.

Love my daily 997.1 Carrera 4S to death. 62k miles. 6 speed.

I'd be lying if I didn't admit I occasionally prefer taking my wife's X5 for running errands.

The 911 is awesome. Full bodied character. A hero. But requires effort to drive everyday. No question.
