Replacement TPMS - Huf OEM or OE recommended
Not a new topic, but trying to piece together from prior posts and my own research.
From earlier threads there seem to be three viable alternatives to the Porsche OEM parts: Which are best? Any comments appreciated. Thx.
Prices for a set of 4:
OE - $196 + $20 for black stems
OE by Titan - $161 in black
Huf OEM - $ 372 in black
The Titan run at 433Mhz and the Huf at 315MHz (not sure about the OE)
Any idea which are best ? They all claim to be compatible with my 06 C2S, does that mean both frequencies are recognized by the car? Confusing!

Not yet replaced mine. But many people say the OE work just fine for a lot less money. As far as 315 or 433Mhz, I think you have to make sure yours has xxx stem (alum, chrome, black), that will determine what your car can read. I haven't heard of our cars reading multiple frequencies. But again I have not yet changed mine in my p car.

My understanding is that the OEM TPMS turn themselves off, to save the batteries, when the car is not moving. Do the after market devices do the same? If not it could mean an esarllier replacement time?

Fahrer - I read that this is the case only for the 997.2 sensors, apparently there were TPMS improvements made in .2 and the sensors are not interchangeable with 997.1 (which don't turn off). Someone may be able to say for sure, not sure about the aftermarket ones.

Perhaps it is not so critical, then. My 2008S is now over 5 years old and a recent Durametric reading indicates the TPMS batteries have 12 to 14 months of life left (I will be replacing the tires by then). All they need to do is last the life of the tires , as far as I am concerned. I wonder also if the aftermarket models will last as long. If so, it sounds like a good choice.

So...just picked up the car. I got the 433mhz as it was stated as the appropriate frequency for a 2007 C2. Started driving and warning came on stating "TPMS learning...". Within 10 minutes the warning disappeared and correct tire pressure was displayed.
Now it's a question of what happens over time but I'm positive things will be fine cause the start has been great (optimist...maybe, realist...probably).

To those that have gone with Titan/ITM/Oro Tek; do you need specific valve stems or will those that fit the OEM TPMS work? I replaced mine with black stems, relatively recently. Want to know if I need to buy more specifically for the new sensors.

I believe you can order chrome or black.
