Opinions on Fabspeed MaxFlo Quiet Mode sound specifically on 997.2? Fister on 997.2?
In general I know the muffler/sound topic has been talked to death, but I can't find any opinions on the Fabspeed's MaxFlo system in "Quiet mode" specifically on 997.2s. I'm looking for someone who has had a 997.2 running this exhaust to share their opinions. It would be especially useful if they are directly familiar with the sound of a Fister and/or a PSE and can compare the sound relative to those, or at least relative to the stock cans. I'm especially interested in Quiet mode since I can easily guess the Loud mode is more than loud enough.
With the exhaust system redesign in a 997.2, especially the addition of the center muffler, the sound of a 997.2 in OEM form is notably different that on my previous 997.1. I ran Fister modded cans for a while on the 997.1 but they were a bit too raw and loud sounding for my tastes, although they had the plus of having no drone. I went back to stock after a few months.
I've already replaced the center muffler on my 997.2 with the Fabpseed X-pipe and there was just a bit more throatiness to the sound. That was good. But I'd still like a bit more sound, preferably less raw that what I had on the 997.1 Fister modded exhaust and much less loud than many of the louder cans out there. (BTW, I've driven back-to-back in 997.1s with PSE and Fister mod and the sounds were not as close as opinions have seemed to suggest).
Also, I've already listened to the videos but I've learned over time any exhaust I've heard in real life sounds quite different. Videos won't do the trick for me.
I'm thinking of getting the Fabpseed Maxflo cans and running them most of the time using the quieter inlet (my car is a DD). The first question is: Is quiet mode more sporty sounding than stock? I might splurge and get the switched ones, but then the cost is beginning to approach the cost of a PSE, which still isn't completely out of the picture (but I'm generally too cheap to spend that much if a better priced solution is viable). Is anyone that uses or has heard the Maxflos (either dual mode or using the quiet inlet on a non-switched) on a 997.2 willing to write up their opinions? Please include any observations on drone as well.
Also, if anyone can provide a comparison of the sound of the Fister mod on the 997.2 vs the 997.1, that would be useful too. I assume there is a notable difference due to the center muffler on the 997.2.

The Valvetronic Maxflo sounds like what you are looking for. In quiet mode you will have the same sound level as the Regular Maxflo exhaust and in the open/loud mode it will be about 30% more aggressive than the Maxflo. I will let some users chime in with their experiences but overall I would say that the 997.2 (and all DFI engines for that fact) are naturally quieter than the earlier 997 cars.

So please let me simplify the question: Can anyone give me opinions on the Fabpseed dual mode exhaust for the 997.2? I'm especially curious as to the difference between loud and soft settings, and how soft compares to stock. My car is a DD and I have to drive through a quiet neighborhood on the way in and out. I don't want someone running out of his house shaking his fist like happened once on my sport bike with aftermarket exhaust!

Your questions and comments are interesting. You think the Fister exhaust doesn't do it for you....you didn't like it....yet you want to go to an aftermarket exhaust which are louder than any Fister exhaust would be. Do you really know what YOU want? Everyone's thoughts and opinions will be biased towards the exhaust they have...based the choice they made.
I have heard other exhaust and for me too loud in and out of the cab. My Fister exhaust are perfect. Just the right amount of sound, FOR ME. My neighbors tell me that they always know when I take out my PCar because they hear me. That tells me that my car is loud enough. I have yet to hear an aftermarket exhaust be quieter than stock, then sound like a race car on demand.
Guess you will need the PSE or the Fabspeed model in the same set up. Find out what you want.

Thanks for the honest assessment. I can't tell whether you have a .1 or a .2. I'm also curious if the tone on a .2 is different than a .1, so if you can help assess that, I'd be grateful.

Sorry I can't help you with the questions concerning the Fabspeed mufflers. However...
I installed the Sharkwerks center by-pass pipe on my 2010 997.2 the second week of owning the car. Six weeks later I had my (then) local dealer do a complete (includig wiring) PSE install. I kept the Sharkwerks pipes.
Yes, it was pricy, but I LOVE the sound. Would I do it again? In a heart beat!
